Was down the vehicle tax office last week with my mate Archie, while he renewed the road tax on his "four be four" - a whopping 2,400 TL...
Had to laugh - as we walked out Archie quipped - "of course you don't mind paying out over 2,000 TL road tax because of the way they look after the roads over here".....

Somewhere on the M11 by the sounds of it Marion. I was there a few weeks ago, and was amazed at the state
of the road surface. I don't think health and safety have travelled on it lately

I remember seing a big roadside panel sign somewhere in London.
There are no road WORKS in London!
.......along with pictures of road works under it.
still, can't complain,60tl for a years road tax on samurai and it is 4x4,or £400 for my navara and it comes with all modern mod cons.Alternatively one can always make use of a donkey.

I am peeved that I am penalised by my husband's generosity. when we came here we had enough money to buy a new car, so he bought me a small car. Small engine, small size, but when it comes to Road Tax, in spite of the statement that it is to do with kerb weight, if you own a Mercedes or a BMW then .............whoose...........car tad goes through the roof, and although there is nothing inw riting, one gets a wee smile and a 'it is aluxury car'. so instead of the 100tl or less, we have ot pay 900tl. Fair it ain't, but cyprus it is!

I went to the tax office last week with 500TL to do the road tax on our car and was shocked as I did not have enough money with me as we were used to paying 260TL for a 1.4 VW Polo, needless to say I had to back this week to tax our Hyundai 1.6 which is 971TL!
I told my hubby we need to get rid of the Hyundai and go back to a small car!
