covering figs

my husband is fed up with the birds eating his figs and wants to cover them up

He's seen Organza wedding party favour bags somewhere or other and thinks these little bags would be ideal to cover the figs to stop the birds getting to them

Silly question I know but does anyone know where he can purchase this sort of thing?

Party favours aisle of local supermarket perhaps, but i was thinking, what about depriving them of air and light? You don't mention how big the tree is but is it possible to fashion a frame over it with some sort of bird friendly netting?

Thank you, the gift bags are see through apparently, and he’s got several trees to cover, it would be difficult to have everything framed and netted with the space involved. You’ve given me an idea though, mr pound sells lots of toys etc. We’ll have a look in there. Thank you.

helendj, are you sure its birds that are the culprits and not a rodent that climbs trees and eats fruit? The little beggars have eaten every single fig on my tree sometimes leaving the skin and the stalk attached, and I've got two cats!

Hahaha sorry medjoul1 it’s definitely birds - there are 14 little buggers that lie in wait every day!
