I don’t think you should jeopardise your hearing in this manner!

Re: Grommets
Ozankoys, thank you for your concern but perhaps I should have clarified that the grommets I want are the craft type that are inserted into material.

Re: Grommets
You're getting technical now!
I think that if they've got holes in the middle, they're grommets, and if they're solid then they're rivets, but I'm floundering a bit here!

Re: Grommets
If they are the things you find around the edges of tents and such - metal circles with holes through the middle by which you can attach ropes - then they are Grommets! If you find any please let me know as well, I have searched for years out here to find them. Normally you will find shops that make curtains have them but they won't sell them on their own. You also need a tool to fasten them onto the material, this can be something like a set of pliers or a round but sharp ended chisel that also cuts the centre out of the material. They are available in Turkey but I don't know how to get them - sorry.

Re: Grommets
Yes it is the type that you use on material, the metal ones. I did find a curtain shop that had them but they were smaller than I wanted butI shall keep looking.

The small ones (with holes) are also known as Eyelets (I just looked it up!)

Now who's getting technical, coping with two was enough, but now you've gone and thrown a third one into the mix!!

Re: Grommets
Not difficult KC, to outdo me isn't difficult. Have just come back from buying a water cooler (bottle in the bottom half). Here's me thinking it would be a doddle (going by the diagrams printed on the container) Have just gone through the instructions and it's NOT.

Re: Grommets
Let me try to help with the instructions sophie - open the door at the bottom, take the top off the bottle, put the sucking attachment into the bottle, put the bottle in the bottom and shut the door! I know it can be complex but just take it a step at a time - lol. Got a Bosch one of those and worth it's weight in gold.

Re: Grommets
Thank you so very much Waddo. I would, if I could be bothered, copy you in with the 8 pages of instructions i..e cold water, hot water, ambient temperature water. That is on top of leaving the unit for 2 hours before switching on and actually using the machine. Plus not using the water on hot until you see bubbles. Life would have been far more simple if the instruction booklet supplied was related in some way to the item supplied. Do you get my drift?
Sorry people, we do appear to have wandered away from the subject of grommets, which to the best of my recollection, do not appear anywhere on a water cooler.

Well, actually...sophie wrote:...Sorry people, we do appear to have wandered away from the subject of grommets, which to the best of my recollection, do not appear anywhere on a water cooler.
you will find at least one grommet, used as a cable protector / strain relief device, where the mains lead emerges from the body of the machine
...and I'm sure that there are a few more inside, where pipes and wires are routed from one compartment to another - so you haven't gone off-topic at all!

Well actually KC, I do have some delightful Camembert that I was thinking of having for lunch. In this heat the aroma and runny constituent (?) is perfect.

Re: Grommets
Ah, I see the problem then, you actually are the person who reads the "Instruction Book" - lol. I have a similar book (somewhere in the big drawer of guarantees and instructions for things purchased in Cyprus) and treat it with the disdain it deserves as the instructions and guarantee for most things purchased here are not worth the paper they are produced on. What I have been looking for is a "HUGE" grommet to put around the lot of them so I can keep them safe.
Sadly, still no sign of anything big enough, I have searched Superhome as well but failed in Grommet finding but there are thousands of the damn things on ebay!!!

cjtill. Well we had a lot of fun and good banter about your serious query about grommets. Hope you enjoyed it too and from somewhere among all the replies you have been able to find a source. Good luck
