Does anybody know ???
I have a vehicle currently registered in the deep south ,,
it broke down with serious transmission problems [ currently awaiting technical parts ]
it has the old greek number plates.... [without the blue euro logo]
can i take all the papers in a rental car from the north with the 'log book' showing my name and south side address and get NEW STYLE euro number made up ???? bring them here fix them to the vehicle ready for my return trip ..
don't need any problems from the fuzz. or border control .... many many thanks in advance ..

Hi,
If you drove your southern car across the border into the north it will be registered as being here until it returns back south. If the car has broken down here in the north and is being repaired and may take longer than 90 days from your entry date, or you need to go back to the south, then you need to get a letter from the garage carrying out the repairs detailing the issue so that you can show this at the border allowing you to either cross in another vehicle or in a taxi/friend car.
I am not sure why you would need to change the number plates if they allowed you travel over. Surely they could be changed when you return with the repaired car?

Yes you can if you take the corresponding documents with you. Try using a number plate company near to the vehicle registration centre in Larnaca.
May be worth giving them a call first to make sure.

You could try M P Landas & Sons, 21 Prodromou Street 1095 Nicosia, Cyprus Tel: 22 665393
Looking on the map they are not far from metehan border on south side.

If this car has not been registered in the south ie tax paid within 3 years then you will have to pay to have it re plated new No$600 then tested it could come to some region of £1200 at best . If it is a Greek motor then you have no chance of getting it registered her unless you have an address south side with proof on your name electric bills and such . Hope this helps dont both i went through it . Death ears might be the word

reply to gates .. this company you mention by the metahan border .. i guess its a shop parts/ accessories .??
if its not a government controlled business ... why would they want proof of anything ?. i have the log book [or whatever its called ] with *MY* name in it. [i bought the vehicle bran new from the franchised dealer in nicosia all greek purchase taxes paid ie vat duty etc, ] also two driving licenses obviously in my name ... .. but as you know road tax discs were discontinued [in the south ] few years ago . [like uk ] .hope this is not too confusing ?? maybe easier just to get the plates made up in uk .. ? they have the blue euro logo on now ... 3 letters 3 numbers .. not really distinguishable between uk and bubble and squeek ?
