New Google Earth scans of NC (Summer 2012) now available.
Images are getting better every year, we can zoom in and even see our car in the drive and the sun loungers out!
Favourite feature is 'History' (clock symbol at top of page), that enables you to click back to previous scans, in our location we can go back to 2003, when our property wasn't there,.. just scrubland.
Remember you can also submit your own photo's for the world to see.
Good for seeing what your neighbours have been doing over the years as well!
I love Google Earth,.. and it's free!

My image is so dark it shows almost no detail. The house next door is hidden by cloud so I guess mine is therefore in shadow. The 2013 image is preferable.

What people don`t realise is it not only a matter of looking at garden furniture ,etc. this is a NASA/US government spy satellite, this is big brother in it`s ultimate form.

I agree with Bert, good as it is, this is just a poor spin off from the military version, they really see your purple loo roll!!
It's the same as the English reason for refusing for ID cards

Andrew
Msg7
Have you found the 'clock' (history) symbol on the top toolbar?
That should open a sliding history bar which you can drag for earlier scans.

Andrew I have the same problem it seems to be only giving 2008 info ?
The bottom of the page says 2012 but the history slide device says 2008 not sure what's going on.

For all of you stuck with 2008, maybe an idea to try downloading the latest version, only takes a couple of minutes.
For anyone worried about US Military control/invasion of privacy, the European Space Agency is well on it's way with it's own set of satellites. Quite a few already launched and in operation and more on the way. These ESA satellites also have advanced technology 20 yrs younger than the US ones.
Surprisingly, the UK has the 2nd largest 'Space' industry in the world.
Satellites are also used practically everytime you email, twitter, Facebook, post on a site such as this, use a mobile for phone or text. Without them you wouldn't get any current world news or media. You would also be stuck with horrendous cost and 10 sec delays landline phoning around the world.
They have also been useful in odd circumstances. Many cases of drivers with satnav whose cars have been 'cloned' and start getting Summonses for motoring offences. Satellites have been used for info avoiding hefty fines, loss of licence or even prisonable offences, by providing evidence their car was nowhere near where the offences happened.
'Big Brother' or useful Technology?
There are always pro's & con's.

Maybe it's a good idea to check before you download the new version, I did and I think my house looked clearer in the last version, its all the luck of the draw with shadows and weather!!

I've been playing!
Looks like the luck of the drawer as to where you live.
W of town, some areas, Lapta'ish only have a 2008 scan, some have later scans but cloudy.
scroll map to Old/New Harbours and a lot more historic scans.
E of town is interesting. 2003, no China Bazaar or Cratos, you can follow their development over the years.
Further E, try to find Korineum Golf Course. 2007, scrubland,.. 2008, finished Golf Course. Just like that!
If you can find the above Histories, you do have the latest version.
Using the 'layer' tools (bottom left) is also fun, even exploring the seafloor, though I haven't yet found the Water pipeline coming from Turkey! You can though find details of really historic shipwrecks and lots of other info. Schools love it for the info it can provide.
Mrs. Owl says I should get out more!
