MOT cost

January 2019 cost for MOT is quoted on BRS site as:
Emissions test - 30tl
MOT - 242tl
Is this still correct or has it increased and also do you need to produce your driving licence when renewing MOT? ( a friend will be getting ours done for us)
Many thanks in advance

Seems about what I paid a few weeks ago. You don't need the driving licence, at least I wasn't asked for it.

Apparently, the latest Government legislation on traffic violations included not having your DL with you when driving a vehicle here. If that is the case, your friend will need his/her DL with them when renewing a MOT, whether it is asked for or not.

The key word in the post above is 'apparently'! A link would be useful, or reference to a trusted source.

Read the local press and research on this forum for previous posts on this subject. I merely quote the information posted. If fact, whoever takes the car for a MOT is required by law to carry a valid DL, be it friend, owner or agent. If garbage, crack on!

Thanks all for helpful replies. Don’t worry he will have his driving licence with him anyway.

I was 3 weeks late for my MOT as I was in UK and I was charged 357tl, I presume this included a fine. The hole process, although having to go to different places, was quite easy and most people where very helpful.

Interesting. My RAV4 due MoT next month and of course it has no mud flaps because they are not a factory fit, because the bodywork is designed that way! Has anyone lately come across a MoT problem (the man with the light on the end of the stick) regarding lack of mud flaps??? I take it the procedure is still the same - emissions first, then tax office, then MoT with bonnet open (when you find a place to park), then into the office with all the paperwork and out again with the man with the stick then back again to get your certificate?

I've found that sometimes the 'man with the light on a stick' waves you into the garage bay next to the office and does his biz first - then you go into the office and the fat guy asks "has it been checked yet" - to which you reply "Yes" and then he does the paperwork.

BTW...
RAV4 ???
Have you come into money, or did you sell the old Mitsi for more than you paid for it?

No money mate, just found a Rav 4 we could afford if we sold on the Toyota Voltz and added a few more shekels, did the deal and very happy with it but my heart still belongs to the Mitsi and I still have it!!! Must admit the Rav is a nice car but the Pajero SWB is for me, goes anywhere and don't care how many bumps in the road! Never been in the "bay" yet, is there another check then apart from engine number, dirty windscreen, mud flaps and counting the number of wheels???

Had mine 3 weeks ago , only a year out of date , fee and fine 350 TL , Checked the engine number and mud flaps and year stamp on the Tyres advising me that at 6 years old the rears need replacing before winter.

Oh, they've even got a 'rolling road' thingy in there, braking balance/efficiency tester and all, although I'm not sure that they know how it works, 'cos I've never seen 'em actually use it ...
Don't expect anything out of the ordinary!
Now that I come to think of it - it may depend on the Weather, and whether he needs a bit of shelter!
Sorry for being so nosey about the RAV4 - I was just being flippant, really - and jealous .

Since yesterday morning the MOT guys have gone out on strike, so imagine backlog will be great, and then fines if caught without an up to date certificate!

Has anyone actually noticed that they are on strike?

Oops! On second look that was a comment that could have been misconstrued? What I meant was has anyone “confirmed” they were on strike, because yesterday was Global Strike Day and loads of one day strikes were happening all over the world?

Wasn't Global Strike Day something to do with the environment and the Climate. If so, it was a bit disingenuous of this lot to go on strike wasn't it? Or was that another "down tools" day?

It was all about climate change and trying to save the earth so that everyone has a future, guess if you did not know about it then today’s children and whatever mess we all leave for them to try and live in is not a great concern! Mainly it was millions of the young and young at heart trying to get governments to understand that if they don’t do something now - it will be to late very, very soon! Massive rallies worldwide, even London stopped worrying about that minor Brexit thing for a change.

Waddo if you do not want to believe Erdeners then shame on you. Our car was there for 2 days and they suggested we called in this week. The Son has been in every day as they have a back log of cars for MOT. These types of remarks really annoy me.

DieHard, Yes, I would believe Erdeners staff - but as nobody mentioned them regarding any strike action and as my crystal ball is temporarily out of service, I find it difficult to see why my remarks should annoy you in particular? Perhaps it was my remarks concerning Global Strike Day that has you upset?
