After getting our police records for permission to purchase were told that the e-signature will not be accepted by the interior ministry and also must be in blue ink

Blue inked signatures appear to be the only accepted form on legal documents,including banking, here.

I have tried to explain that I can not dictate to a UK government department how they have to sign a police records document.

I've just e-mailed our Lawyer to ask this question having read this post as we're due out in a week or so with our DBS Checks. I'll let you know what she says. In the meantime it is with interest that i read this morning online on Cyprus Today that PM Ersin Tatar in a recent speech, urged British ex-pats living in the Republic, to move North after Brexit. What he does not mention and nether will any other official, is all the aggro and intransigence you have to deal with in doing so. The "black ink" scenario is just one small example.

We were also told this by a solicitor in Girne. Not sure when this is supposed to have come into effect but we submitted PTP applications with the subject access letters that had been emailed to us last August to the interior ministry last September. The applications were approved. We then had to redo them because of a slight change in the application, submitted full colour copy of same emailed SA letters last month and they were accepted. Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not they get rejected before being fully approved. We were also told that the SA letters had to be recently issued but ours were a year old, again perhaps they will be rejected at a later stage...

Our Lawyer didn't know what i meant about e-signatures on DBS Cert's and asked me to scan ours and e-mail them to her. Now i know why she was puzzled as i just checked before scanning them and there are no signatures on them anyway, e or otherwise.

When you said Police records, i just assumed you meant DBS Cert's.

The police records document comes from ACRO it has to be current not more than 3 months old. Not downloaded. Signature by a real person and in blue ink.
You could not make it up.
The interior ministry is now consulting with the foreign ministry.

Acro must have changed this since last year as we were given the choice and opted for email copies so we could download and print as required.

I refer to your recent Subject Access application for disclosure of any data held in your name on the Police National Computer (PNC).

The interior ministry is not accepting downloaded ACRO letters due to "online fraud" and are also asking for a signature in BLUE ,and by a real person,not a pro-forma.

Bit confused, you asked a question in post 1, to which I replied in post 5 basically saying that I had an emailed copy of SA accepted last month.

Now you are stating that the interior ministry isn't accepting emailed copies - where is the source of that information?

My previous reply was to Darartokat, showing that last year ACRO were emailing SA letters so there must have been a recent change in their policy.

I'm not doubting what you are saying just that, so far, I haven't had a problem which is the question you asked in post 1.

A subject Access request is different. It is a request under the Data Protection Laws to give an electronic summary of your immigration history. Ins and outs from a country, landing cards they keep etc.

ACRO deal in Criminal Records which is why the information is sent by post on special paper that cannot be photocopied and has to be signed in blue ink.

This is what we got from ACRO:

I am writing in response to your request for data that may be held about you on the Police National Computer (PNC).

The Data Protection Act 2018 places an obligation on the police when holding personal data to provide a copy of that data to the individual concerned on request, unless an exemption applies.

From the personal details supplied in your request, there is no data held about you on the PNC.

This document does not constitute a Certificate of Good Character. [lol]

In this case, I asked ACRO for my police records. I would have to approach border force / immigration departments to obtain info on my ins and outs etc.
