Brown ally shutters./refurbishment
Does anyone have experience and/or knowledge of having brown shutters refurbished? as the ones on the east and south side of the house have lost their sheen.

Any idea for suppliers of brown shutters as I might have to change them completely.

I think that Sucuoglu Aluminium near the Church in Lapta Square or Pirmert next to Deli Cafe in Alsancak would be the nearest to your place.

My shutters of the same description started to fall apart a few years back and I changed them all for electric roller shutters. Can't remember if there was a great difference in the price but the ease of use and the fact you don't have to clean them all the time made up for it anyway. Would recommend roller shutters to anyone.

Waddo, what would I give to get rid of the shutters. We have 42 of the blighters (that does include ones in the garage) and I have to do them in 4 stages. Then of course there are the windows and doors!!! There was talk years and years ago, that Insurance companies would give a discount, as shutters made it more difficult to break into a house, but like a lot of other ideas here, it came to nothing.

Aypen make shutters (and windows/doors etc) in any colour - especially natural wood effect on aluminium. They have their factory & showroom just up the Yesiltepe road on the left about half a click. The lady in there speaks good english.

Sophie, I know the feeling, we only have 9 windows - all doubles - so that was 36 shutters! 4 of them need extension ladders to get at or balance on the outside window sill! Now only have 9 roller shutters and clean them once a year with a damp cloth - magic, best thing we ever got, full control over the sun because you can just roll them down a bit or a lot and keep the heat in in the winter as well!

Got mine from Tescomar but have been told they are cheaper if you go to the Nicosia Industrial estate. Not been myself so don't know for sure. You do need to plan for power supplies wherever you get them from so do be a bit careful!
