Anyone know where I can get the battery changed in my Apple Watch 3 - It has finally given up the ghost after 3 years, not bad really.

If you don't find anywhere local, they are available on Ebay with plenty of YouTube instructions available for a DIY replacement job.

Thanks Keith, have looked at some of the instructions for fitting - none of them appear to include the use of a 7lb lump hammer so not sure if I could do it myself - lol. The only problem I would face is getting the hair dryer out of the wife's sticky fingers but it would be worth a try, the cost of a new watch is too much to bear and even the Apple replacement cost is a little high.

Will let you know how I get on if I don't find a "Fixer" locally.

I could come around with a lump hammer and a breadknife - you can get into most things with that combination!

Waddo, try Akay Optic next to Garanti Bank in Girne. No promises though, but someone told me you could buy watches from there so they might have the batteries. To quote Trump, it could be false news though.

In what way is it dead?

My series 2 died over the summer, kept getting the green screen of death. I read about leaving it for a few weeks and then giving a full charge and then hey presto, much to my surprise, it started working again.

This one is dead in a ditch! Will not charge at all and gets very hot if you try. Apparently, according to Apple, the battery life is 3 years and when it gives the same symptoms that mine has it needs a new battery.

When I had need of my Apple watch repairing I was informed by the repair places I went to that no where in Cyprus could repair it - this was a few years ago like so might have changed - plus it was smashed to smithereens and not just broke.

I'm going to Berlin this month I could pop it into the apple shop on Kudamm if you want. Then post it back or bring it back if you aren't in a hurry for it.

Terry, thanks for the offer, there are three Apple authorized service providers in Nicosia and I am awaiting a response from them and Apple UK before I do anything else. Not in a rush to have it fixed and trying to convince the wife that an upgrade to 4 would be a good idea as Christmas is coming - lol.

Might still be worth doing a DIY repair, and then sell it if it's 100% - you should easily get £100+ for it in good nick...

You could end up showing a profit on the deal if your wife obliges

Might still end up doing that Keith, got to stop the hands shaking and get a good set of thick lenses in my specs first - lol.

How much does a battery replacement usually cost for an Apple Watch? I can imagine that they are not cheap. A 3 year shelf life for something that costs so much money initially doesn’t really represent good value for money in all honesty.

USA are quoting $79 for replacement, don’t know yet what Cyprus charge. In fairness Apple do tell you the estimated life but like all things it depends on how you use it. The watch’s are not cheap but they are very good if you use most of the functions and they are useful rather than just a fashion object. A car battery here, in constant use, has a life of between 3 and 5 years and they are not cheap either, but I do take your point!

Totally agree. Think i have had mine about 3 years now and love it. My wife, who has also had her's 3 years is starting to get a bit frustrated with hers as it is not collaborating her steps / runs etc correctly. I wonder if that is down to the battery starting to go.
