Hi I have seen the new visa rules stating that you can have a 30,60 or 90 day visa over a 180 day period.
What happens say you come early in the year for 35 days, can you ask for a 35 day visa?
Or are automatically given a 60 day visa?
It would be nice if they granted this as you would have another 55 days say for June and July.

It very much depends on whether you are a tourist, own or rent property etc as to the type of visa you qualify for and hence how long you can stay.

Depending on your circumstances and why you are visiting the TRNC will determine what visa you qualify for.

It will be 30,60 or 90. You cannot choose yourself the number of days you want, it really does depend on your reasons for visiting and personal circumstances.

You can of course apply for residency allowing you possibly 1 year or longer. Again it depends on your personal circumstances, if you own or rent a property and why you are visiting the TRNC plus why you want to stay. The different types of visas are explained in other topics on this same subject.

The information that has been posted in all the topics on the forum are the best information available at the moment. Again suggest you read what has already been posted.

RESIDENCE PERMIT VISA
The following types of visas may be issued to foreigners who will enter the country in order to apply for one of the residence permit types.
 Visa for Family Residence Permit: Foreigners who will apply for a family residence permit can be given a visa for this purpose up to 90 days upon their arrival.
 Visa Due to Ownership of Immovable Property: A visa can be issued up to 90 days for those who have a title deed document indicating that they own an immovable property.
 Visa for Student Residence Permit Application: Foreigners who come to the country to obtain a student residence permit may be granted a 60 day visa upon submission of a student registration or pre-registration certificate.
 Visa for Judicial and Administrative purposes: Those who come to the country upon the request or decisions of judicial or administrative authorities may be granted a valid visa for the term of their duty.
 Visa for Scientific Research: Those who come to the country for scientific research purposes may be granted a valid visa for the duration of the research.

RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION PROCESS Applications for a residence permit will be submitted to the Immigration Authority of the District Police Directorate responsible for the area where he/she resides within thirty days after the commencement of the period granted with the visa given while entering to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Applications for renewal of a residence permit shall be made no earlier than sixty days and not later than twenty days before the expiry of the current residence permit.


TOURIST VISA
Those who come to the country for a touristic visits and will stay at a hotel or other accommodation facility and those who have rented a dwelling for this purpose and declare this, can be issued a visa for a maximum of 30 days. If they can submit documents showing that a prior payment has been made for accommodation, a visa up to 90 days may be granted. A visa up to 60 days can be granted to those who arrives in the country for the purpose of family/relative visit and stay in a relative's house.
A visa up to 90 days may be issued to those who come for official visits, business meetings, conferences, seminars, meetings, festivals, fairs, exhibitions, sporting events, cultural and artistic events, health tourism and similar purposes.

An article in today's CT says foreigners 60 years and over have until 23rd October 2020 to complete residency and will not require health checks. Mrs Baybars will be sending a "memo" to immigration officers telling them to assure such expats that they had a year to comply with new regulations. "irrespective of what is being said by an immigration officer, the new rules provide for a one year transition period for foreign residents aged 60 and over" she said. "I say openly to people not to panic, even if their passports are stamped with 30- or 90-day visa... No resident over 60 is going to be penalised".
