Dehumidifiers, recommendations and where from Qs

Evening all

Currently have an issue with damp in most cupboards. Property is new so damp may be related to the slow drying out of moisture in the building.

To help we are considering investing in decent dehumidifiers. Grateful for any advice on what to go for and which models to avoid. Also, where best to purchase either north or south.

365 sq m over two floors.

TIA.

if you have Airconditioning units installed, they normally have a dehumidifier function,,,

Thanks for the suggestion Keith. Have read the a/c manual and Googled the a/c functions - dry mode is what I think you are referring to. Maybe worth a try although Google threw up various forum threads with posts sadly reporting a/c dry mode didn't effectively dehumidify the room.

That's surprising - I've found it very effective...

After 15 years we still have damp problems in one kitchen cupboard here. We use a small portable dehumidifier by Puremate costs about £30 and very cheap.to run. I can also recommend the Unibond moisture absorber system which is not electrical and which we use in a kitchen cupboard in the UK. I am sorry I don't know if you can buy them here or in the South as I brought it over from the UK.

You can certainly get the 'absorption' type in the South, I've seen them in either Superhome or Spanias - but I can't remember which...

I think that they are quite effective for enclosed spaces like cupboards, although your best friend is copious ventilation, which doesn't quite fit the scenario.

I've never noticed them for sale in the North, but it would be worth enquiring at a Yapı Market before venturing South!
