Car tax question

So my car tax was due on 1st Nov. Yesterday I paid a visit to the tax office in Girne ( for the first time). I took all my documentation and handed it over at the counter and asked for road tax.
Next the woman stamped some paper work and asked for the equivalent of £30 and handed me a piece of paper which she said was MOT ?? ( my mot still has a year to run).
She then asked me for 590 tl for road tax then stamped another piece of paper and told me it was road tax .
Any idea what the first thing was???

That ones mot is due this year between 21/10 and 04/11 - so at least you've paid for it in time to avoid a penalty!
Best get your emissions test done and sally forth to the police mot garage
Being a day overdue won't hurt.
Any queries about why you 'lost a year'?
Speak to the Government! - although I wouldn't bother...

The MOT dates aren't fixed here like UK. Because they only MOT private cars between July and November, the first MOT can be due somewhere 2 to 4 years from the date of registration, I think subsequent ones tend to be around the 3 year anniversary of the previous MOT date. Our car was first registered in March 2016 and we did the first MOT last week(3 years 7 months) but with a previous car we had to do it 2 years 7 months after buying it. You just need to check section D of the MOT dates that are issued at the beginning of every year, usually published on here and available at tax office.

Correct answer!
From the Hirondelle (Elektrokur) roundabout, head West.
You can get your emıssions done at the first Alpet garage on your right (just past D&D cafe).
Go back to the roundabout & head West again, but this time you turn 1st left at the Kombos Taxi office and 1st right into the mot compound.
Greet everyone like long lost family, and you'll get along just fine

Take all of your car documentation, including the vital receipt for the MOT!

I think I still have a year of my MOT to go myself but I’ll find out later when I rock up at the garage

The duration of your MOT validity is determined by the published tables showing when your next test is due.
The certificate itself does not have an end date.
If you bought the vehicle after it had been MOT'd, how do you know that it was not a year 'overdue' when the MOT was done? - and that they only had it MOT'd in order to be able to sell it with all the paperwork done?
Sorry to burst your bubble

After a bit or searching I found the MOT dates for 2016, see the last row and dates. So I think Keith is correct, the previous MOT was late, if done in 2017.
