MOT Info Please

A TC friend says that only the owner of a registered vehicle can attend the MOT inspection with the car. Seems absurd to me.
I'm unwell at the moment and would like my my wife who is not the registered owner in the log book to have it inspected.
Can anyone please confirm or not?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Not heard that one before!
Doesn't seem right given the amount of 'fixers' who do people's MOT's car tax etc.

I have taken mine and four other people's cars to the police mot station never had a problem including paying at the tax office.

When our vehicle is due MOT we always get it serviced beforehand and then the garage that services the car, does the emissions and takes it to the MOT station to get the MOT.
Yes it is a small extra charge for them to take it but it just makes things easier.

I believe anyone can take a vehicle for MOT.
Luck of the draw whos on duty,
if it looks clean and tidy you stand a better chance.
if it looks modified, expensive, foreigner owned then may be more difficult.
generally tho not as brutal as some UK testing stations.

Not true. We have twice taken our neighbours car for MOT when they have not been here.

No matter what, whether your car is due for an MOT or not, get it serviced and checked over by a qualified mechanic every year. MOT's are usually done for your safety and the safety of others on the road. This is not the case here, unfortunately.
Anyone can take your car for an MOT, I usually get my local mechanic to take mine, for a very small fee.
