We had them too, had lunch outside day before yesterday and it was terrible, in the evening they were all inside, next day they were almost all gone.

Always happens this time of year, and always takes me by surprise because I think it is too cold, so perhaps Andrew's explanation is right.

I have had two in the kitchen every evening for a while now. Reason tells me it can't be the same two: paranoia says they are and they are stalking me!

I've had one in my car for nearly a week-tried everything to get rid of it like opening the doors and windows,he just goes and hides and then he re-appears on the windscreen when I'm driving .
I think he just likes being driven about and sightseeing
To be honest I have become quite attached to the little chap (or Freddie as I now call him).

I use flyspray in my car just before I go. No flies. Same in the house. Just 'nuke them'. Chemical weapons rule OK.

Frogandtoad: With that name you should have no problems with flies! Just eat them!

Problem with fly spray, I dont like using it in the kitchen for fear of contaminating food and I am not sure it is such a good idea in a car anyway as it is a fairly small enclosed area. I spray the car from time to time and close the windows, but that is to be sure I dont carry fleas as well as dogs, and I then have to be sure I air the car throughly before I (or the dogs!) use it.

The flies that are around at the moment seem to thrive on 'Flutex' and just spit it out and laugh in your face.

Also the Flutex spray brings me on in a sneezing fit, which is not a good thing when driving!

Secondly, having become very attached to 'Freddie' I have just wrapped his Christmas present-(A novelty fake dog turd I got off e bay).

I can't wait to see the smile on his little face on Christmas morning when he unwraps it(I may have to help him with that bit), but I'm sure his compound eyes will light up.

Poor Philoz, is Freddie fly your only friend? I hope you are not expecting a gift from him in return.

A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"Hunting flies," He responded.

"Oh, killing any?" She asked.

"Yep, three males, two females," he replied.

Intrigued, she asked, How can you tell?

He responded, "Three were on a beer can, two were on the phone."

They can be removed, if not eradicated, by puking over a garden fence into your neighbours property but, I never said that !

Fluttering butterflies are much nicer than flies. I once went Fly Fishing and caught a 4 lb Blue Bottle !

What was in the bottle , DD? If it had been green, I would have guessed at Creme de Menthe

DD- I have always personally found that the most effective way of keeping unwanted flies from ones kitchen is to put around 3 tons of cow s**t in your lounge.
No flies in the kitchen for me!

Except if you invite a politician into your lounge, then the cows..t in the kitchen becomes superfluous !

I have a supply of Fly guns for sale. Don't panic, they are plastic, harmelss to humans but lethal to Flies, they are also great fun, and a quirky little xmas pressie. 10TL. email me if interested.
