Soner - I didn't realise you were the author of this book - amazing achievement - it must have been painful and cathartic to write. I was going to get a copy anyway, but definitely will now. Best of luck with it, I'm sure it will be a huge success.

Thanks Moyra, just received your order, will be in the post today. There were some mixed emotions when writing it, but am happy that I have put it all down on paper, even happier with the wonderful feedback from those that have read it. It makes it all the worthwhile.
By the way.....I did what you had suggested.
Regards,

I must get a copy, when I logged on and saw the book advertised it caught my eye immediately.
My Father, a Royal Marine, had been stationed on Troodos when he was a young teenager, indeed he received the news that I was born whilst serving in Cyprus. As a child I travelled to exotic places like India and Singapore with my Father, but he always talked about Cyprus.
He left the forces and we planned a family holiday to go back to the place he said 'fills your heart'. So for the first time I stepped of the plane to the heat and the dry smell of pine in Cyrpus in 1974. I, like my Father fell in love with Cyprus. I was only 15 full of teenage angst which Cyprus calmed . We stayed in Ambelia Village Bellapais, which I know to be still be there. The vine girths so small and thin in my photographs in 1974 are now thick with age (much like my girth now if I'm honest!). My memorier of standing on the balcony looking out over to Bellapais Abbey light up in all its grandeur, the splendour of Salamis, sitting at the top of the ampitheatre watching a spectacular sunset, deserted other than for us, really did fill my heart.
Our holiday was cut short with news reaching us of gun shots and trouble breaking out. For years my heart yearned to be able to come back. I took holidays in South Cyprus but it wasnt the same, I would stand looking over the line with longing, wanting to understand what happened.
Now I have a place here in Northern Cyprus and my heart fills complete. I just wished my Father had lived long enough to share some of it with me.

For Salahi
My first post, joined the Forum today.
I'm so moved by your post - written beautifully. My heart too fills each time we step off the plane at Ercan. I couldn't wait to buy a hard copy of the Greenline, so got it on my Kindle. Loved it, so moved by it and will be buying a hard copy to read again when we arrive in Kyrenia later this month. Thanks.
