If you registered your vehicle when the
”mystery message” was texted to you then why not renew it online?
It worked perfectly for me - and I’m not in the country.
This thread also refers (eventually!)

Renewed last month, put all docs, insurance, log book etc on the counter. Chap was only interested in the old tax disk and the cash. Much more efficient though with the ticketing system.

Well you certainly don’t need any documentation at all doing it on line. Only the date of initial registration (from the front page of the log book - I didn’t have ours with me so guessed. I must have been right because it went through!), and your passport number (preceded by “P” if I remember).
Oh and credit card number and details.

I was caught out by the operating hours first time I tried. Can’t remember what they are - maybe close at 10:00pm (because I was two hours behind that got me!).

NB it should be done in the name of the first person named on logbook.
1. It may only work if you registered your details by text to 1300 in July time
2. Go to this website
https://bub.gov.ct.tr/en-us/
3. Scroll down to see the AKOS online payment and click it
4. Follow the instructions, reg no.,
passport number used when purchasing the vehicle preceded by a P, date of registration from front of log book and the verification code and submit
5. If that works it should bring up your car details, so you can do that process anytime.
6. On the LHS, the first option should be to pay tax, click on that
7. Next page should show one line with all the details, when due, how much, etc. There is a tick box that you must complete then click submit.
8. Complete your payment details and if successful, it will tell you to print out your tax disc, you can also save a copy. The printed tax disc should be kept in the car.

Has anyone received a 10% discount for paying online? My cousin done his last week and got 10% off. I tried but no discount, so did not complete. Have been told that if left to expire the discount comes info force. You have one month to renew after expiry. Will try next month, maybe the exchange rate will be better too. Call me tight....

As I understand it, and it states on the tax disc, you can renew at any time during the month it expires. Mine ran out on May 1st, so I had until the 31st to renew. Mayis was clearly printed on the old tax disc but they have a new format now and it is not so clear on the new document.

Did it on line yesterday and it was surprisingly easy, even though my tax was 6 months overdue (I simply forgot!). Click on:
https://online-vergi.gov.ct.tr/gvdos_on ... 396c74a6f7 and follow the instructions carefully (they are in Turkish and English). Remember to precede your passport number with P. When complete you get a page with what looks like a receipt, but isn't as it contains no car or personal details, however, about 5 lines down is a box to click for the proper receipt. It saved me from getting up early for a ticket and then waiting in the queue for ages.
Good Luck.

Wonder if it lets you tax it without an MOT?

Did mine today, problems with Nationwide credit car because of no 3D security, whatever that is but no problem using MasterCard. Easy to use and print off the receipt, which I take it is also the replacement for the Tax Disc? All in all a good site to use, even got a 60% discount - it pays to have a car over 15 years old sometimes - lol. Wonder what the discount will be next year when my 1992 Pajero becomes 20 years old? Even checked the MOT but not due yet so nothing to pay.

Here in the U.K. and was wondering how to tax our car. Thanks for the link that was posted. Took 2 minutes to enter our information, bring up the vehicle details and make payment.
Website is slightly clunky but works. The only slight problem was trying to get the information printed at the end but eventually solved.
Hopefully the new on line residency process will work as well as this does when it goes live in “hopefully” a couple of weeks. Getting appointment times and text messages in advance of attending at the police or immigration offices has got to make things easier.

Posh, as you took this thread off topic - lol, it looks like you won't even have to go to Nicosia immigration offices at all - or so solid rumour has it!!

It was more of an attempt to say that on line has to be the way forward. Compared to having to rock up at an office, often very early and never sure if you will get seen.
As for residency process on line has to be the way forward if it works in a few weeks time. As far as I understand it you cannot do it all on line. You can initially apply to be registered and provide some brief details. Next stage is getting message with appointment time to attend police station with documents, then information of when to get health check if needed, pay for health insurance and then an appointment time to attend immigration office. So not as efficient as doing it all on line but still way better than turning up in hope. So online has to be better all round.
Yes I have taken this off topic, but just trying not highlight how things can be made better,

On line payments “Road Tax” and MOT, Electric, Phone, Water, etc, etc. It’s wonderful how fast things can change when money gets short and wages need to be paid! All of a sudden the systems that never worked or were never there have received the attention they should have had years ago! COVID has changed the world and there is no going back, difficult for some but it may be a better world than ques and lines of cars everywhere, I hope so anyway. Now I am also well off topic, back to my box! Stay safe out there people.

Dalartokat, Many thanks and strange, put that in many times on other sites, no problem and with MasterCard on Tax site no problem - Nationwide hates me, not an exclusive club - lol.
