I do not think that speculative comments about the presence of this virus is in any way helpful; it merely increases the anxiety level. Of course if there is cast iron evidence then we should be made aware.

I have just spoken to the grandson of the owner of the Deniz Kizi and he has told me that he is unaware of any Corona Virus problems at the hotel and I believe that he genuinely means what he says. Naturally it is possible that there may be an outbreak there at some point in the future but, hopefully, if/when this occurs we will be given authoritative information which we can trust.

Not good news but I guess it was inevitable, sooner or later.

Sorry about the comment on Denizkizi. I read it elsewhere but did say ''apparently''. However I am not trying to increase anyone's anxiety levels. Panicking in my opinion is beyond stupid.

Yep you're right forestpixie. Today in a small supermarket in Alsancak it was bedlam plus people (including children) wearing totally useless flimsy paper masks and rubber gloves. If that's what it's going to be like after one report in Salamis, lord only knows what its going to become like.

Just for info.

"High fire complaints" should read "complaining of a high fever".

Any idea whether the infected German entered via Ercan or the south ? I presume it was Ercan but would like it confirmed or discounted.

I think I will start to avoid shaking hands now with people because Head Office seems to be intent on buying every toilet roll on the island

It wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if travel is effected. Our airline are allowing us to change flights for free, however, the problem is my wife is popping over to UK (we live in the Middle East) for 5 days during our stay (Jet2.com - charging to change atm), to see her terminally ill mother.

Obviously, this begs quite a few questions, so I guess we will just have to wait and see. It’s a pain but I guess lots of people are in similar positions.
