Message from Wizz Air
As an airline, we can at times face with situations, which lead to unforeseen cancellations, please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.
As a result of the cancellation, we are crediting the full amount of your payment related to the cancelled booking (i.e. the Total fare) to your WIZZ account automatically (for the outbound flight, and for the return flight, if applicable), with an extra +20% as a bonus, in the form of WIZZ credits. The amount will be at your disposal immediately once uploaded, and it will be valid for two years. You can use those WIZZ credits to purchase any Wizz Air flights/services in the next two years.
We would like to inform you that instead of WIZZ credit you will be able to request the refund either via bank transfer, or to your bank card (depending on your original payment method), in this case please note that the aforementioned extra +20% will not be applied.
We will send you an additional email with all the necessary instructions and details on how to request the 100% refund, within two weeks. We kindly ask your patience until this email arrives as we are working hard on the necessary developments to enable this service to you.
Please be advised, that processing your request of converting your WIZZ credit to your original payment method will require significantly longer time, because the number of submitted claims – due to the spread of Coronavirus in Europe – affects our Customer Service’s capacity as well. Therefore, keeping 120% WIZZ credits would be the fastest solution.

Well done Wizz Air. I am waiting to see if Easyjet will cancel flights to Cyprus so I get a refund rather than the option of rebooking.

EasyJet’s offer is paltry.
In the midst of this crisis I find it somewhat annoying at the attitude of some airlines with regards to refunds etc. Some airlines are offering passengers the option to cancel and receive a full refund or a voucher.
Others are not going that far. EasyJet is one. Pegasus is another.
They are offering the option to postpone the flight and rebook for a later date. Easyjet are saying that they will not charge any fees to make this change. Wow how very generous not! However; if you rebook and the cost for your new date/s is higher then you have to pay the difference. For many rebooking simply will not be a practical solution and just not possible. For those that do rebook......rebook for when, next week, next month, next year? (EasyJet flights are not available from Nov this year as yet). What happens if you rebook and then have to cancel again due to restrictions imposed? How often can you rebook and how often are you the customer expected to pay the additional cost for more expensive flights?
Some may say that if you have insurance you can make a claim.......however unless the airline cancel the flight or possibly your destination country are refusing entry then this is unlikely.
It’s very simple to me - if you cannot or are unwilling to travel then you should receive a full refund or have the option to take a voucher to enable you to rebook at some future date, possibly months or a year in advance when the situation becomes clearer. If Wizz Air, the budget of all budget airlines can offer a refund then why not EasyJet! I am seeing a lot of negative comments on the EasyJet Facebook site with regards to this very poor service.
End of today’s rant.

We have flights booked to Larnaca on the 2nd of April. Qatar Airways are not allowing us to change them without charge as the ban from Cyprus at the moment is until the 30th March.
My wife has a flight booked to see her sick mother in the UK on the 5th April. Jet 2 have said we have cannot cancel as that is after 30th March.
Kind of stuck in limbo. You would have thought there would be some sort of flexibility at a time like this. About £1500 tied up in both flights. I looked at flights back from Qatar to UK this morning. About £3500 return for me and my wife, so looking like we are stuck here. They have closed the airport down to all inbound flights so can only imagine prices to increase as demand goes up.
Oh well, I am sure there is somebody worse off, there always is. I am still at work so that is keeping me busy at least.
Hope everyone over there is okay. I read about the panic buying. Not really had that here other than the one and only liquor store in the country.

The U.K. government advising people not to travel unless absolutely necessary should ensure that airlines offer refunds. In addition countries banning arrivals of U.K. nationals into the country should also provide another reason as to why they should offer refunds.
We will be contacting EasyJet.

We have applied for a refund from Qatar Airways. See what happens there.
Also got a message from Jet2.com saying they will be in touch, their priority is getting stranded people back home... which is fair enough.

That is awful. Hope your friend got/gets sorted.
Jet2.com have been in touch, full refund offered.
We are still awaiting a response from Qatar airways. However, Cyprus’s decision to add Qatar to the ban country list for two weeks from Saturday should help our cause.

I have read on FB that UK citizens were allowed through Pyla yesterday & there is a BA flight to London showing this afternoon, might be worth investigating?
If anyone can get South you have more chance of being repatriated to UK in cases of emergency?

We got a full refund off jet 2. QA would only offer us a non refundable voucher that has to be used within 12 months.
