So listening to Radio 4 this morning and there is a discussion around the restrictions on places opening. There is a list on the government website which advises those places providing vital services which can remain open.
Mike Ashley the owner of Sports Direct has said his stores will remain open. Completely unbelievable. The man is a complete idiot.....and that is me being polite.
Update at 8am - Seems like the amount of negative press generated by the decision to open Sports Direct stores has led Mike Ashley to change his mind. Not surprised as in the last hour there has been a huge backlash at his original decision to open.

They should follow our lead. YOU WILL CLOSE! Its not up to store owners the government here make the decisions.

They have all closed. The only ones that have not been considered yet is Construction, but that is being discussed, also the self employed will also have to have help. Sports Direct saw a surge in fitness equipment being sold and he wanted to stay open to make more money but as has been said he got the bad press for it.

In the UK they are still allowing planes in from Italy, Spain and the Far East completely unchecked, but people taking their dogs for a walk are a serious problem......

Not sure why he is even that bothered, most of his staff are on 0 contract hours and it is not as if he sells perishable goods. Ashley making money or losing a few million from his personal fortune is neither here nor there. The grand scheme of things is his workers who now don't have any money and whose future prospects are pretty grim is a problem.

Some (IMO) strange - and risky - anomalies here...
"health shops" ? Holland & Barret, Shop4Supplements, Nutrifit Care - who sell diet supplements and vitamin tablets (!) - pharmacies; definitely OK by me....
"home and hardware stores" ? B&Q and Homebase, I don't know, but WIckes (round the corner) - closed...
"car rentals" ? - if we're meant to stay at home? I wouldn't have thought vital workers would suddenly need car rentals....
"pet shops" ? - a desperate need to buy a new gerbil or a couple of goldfish? Pet food can be bought at the supermarkets....

Who'd have thunk it, laundrette and dry cleaner an essential shop!!! Twaddle. At least if ours here was open I could pick up the pair of slacks that have been in there for 3 weeks now.
