Go prepared!

Went to Illeli for a weekly shop. Were only admitting people wearing masks and gloves, provided by the customer. Whilst I appreciate they are making the effort, what a stupid policy. There were no such items for sale in the foyer, so we could spread our viruses around by going elsewhere to avail ourselves of them, and where might everybody’s gloves have been before they go into the shop? So we went instead to Lemar and Ya Beles, both of whom provided gloves with a smile, and didn’t insist upon masks. Even our tiny local shop is providing gloves.

Odd that;
I was at the new one this morning and after putting on the sanitiser we were asked if we had gloves, they were in the car so we put them on, others didn't have them but were allowed in. There was no mention of masks at all.

Well we most definitely got the boot! From the new one. A Cypriot lady on her way out with a trolley also made it quiet clear that we must wear gloves and mask. Don’t know what happened there then.

I've stopped shopping there, but have just spoken to someone who was in this morning and she said its nonsense. Obviously if the gloves are there to be worn, why not wear them. Starlings have a box and you take a pair although I bought a largish box 2 weeks ago, I've discovered in Starlings that yet again my temp is always lower than the norm.

Gloves supplied in both Sah and Supreme.

It is clear some still don't get it though. One of the main bits of advice is don't touch your face. So a woman sat in the car next to me in the supermarket car park has her gloves on and is resting her face on her hand.

One of the best ways I have seen of describing it is imagine you have some glitter on your hand. You knwo like you get on cards and stuff like that. You touch your face you have glitter on your face. You touch the fridge door you have glitter on the handle. The virus transfers so easily just like the glitter but without being seen.

Also saw advice about how the masks may make it worse. How many people do you see walking about with them pulled down? So when they do that or put them back up there is a very big chance that your gloves or gingers have touched the inside of the mask especially if you are using the same mask continually. Mask contaminated and then you are as well.

I am sure many out there think the gloves and mask are all they need to do yet they are probably more at risk by poor understanding of how to use them effectively. In fact masks are more about you not infecting anyone else.

Went to Supreme this morning, sanitiser & gloves provided at entrance. Only 50% customers were wearing gloves & most going in without sanitising their hands the staff mostly had their masks round their necks - definitely our last visit!!

If wearing mask, when removing it you need to do so carefully. Take hold of the band at back of your head, with both hands, and pull over your head slowly and carefully to prevent mask from flipping back, preventing possibly contaminated side from touching your face.

If wearing gloves, also remove carefully and dispose of immediately in to the bin. Change regularly and wash hands after disposal.

As Chriswight03 mentioned, many still do not have a clue.

Stay Safe!

As you say Soner, but how can people have a clue when even a pharmacist yesterday was wearing incorrectly. It has to cover nose as well. However, I'm not totally convinced with wearing them, one cough or sneeze from yourself, renders them totally useless (at least the tatty things most people are wearing here. Not against masks as such. Some are an improvement and can be hung out in bright sunlight to obliterate the virus, and the top can be tightened to stay over the nose but as Soner says, they have to be removed correctly. The more sunlight the better. In reality I'm more convinced about personal cleanliness with hands in and out of the home. Trying only to leave the house once a week and not using the Supermarket as a trip out.
