More of a question of when than if . Will make calculations easier.
This article is a prediction by a japanese bank of $8 to 1 tl in a year.
https://ahval.me/turkish-lira/turkish-l ... rgest-bank
So if gbp usd was about the same that would equate to 10 tl to the pound..
I have seen other recent predictions of tl to $ falling ti 7.5 $ ti the tl in much shorter order.
Clearly given the history and the fact that turkey has already been in recession and depleted its fx reserves none of this will surprise most of us.. none of these predictions may be right but seem probable.
I did see some other stuff abouterdogan asking Trump for an fx swap facility which may help that would likely require concessions such as sending the russian missile system packing.

Seems like an echo
For those interested heres an article today by ahval . They do have a negative spin bias towards turkey think they are funded by U.A.E. And are exiled in turkey.
https://ahvalnews.com/turkey-coronaviru ... uch-longer
Its difficult to argue with what they are saying . All countries are under significant economic pressure im only singling out turkey currency as its relevant to living in trnc. It could depreciate rapidly from here. To me it feels like we have been in a 7 to 8 try /gbp trading range for a while and now its gone past 8 tl to the pound and with the virus now taking a hold in turkey really just this week it may go south.

It's not an echo... Re-read the statement.. 8 dollars to 1 Turkish lira... That's the opposite of what you meant.

We have a customer who is an economist and back in 2018, he told us that it's possible that TL / STG might be around 10tl in 2019, he was not too far away as I think we reached 9tl.
I can believe 10tl for a pound in the not too distant future

Not good for anyone
