Do you mean for them to open?
I would like that as well , but think we have a long way to go yet before we do to get rid of this dreadful virus.

I agree, Yapi markets but where does it end? Garages, tyre repair shops, take aways?

Places that can be considered useful and controlled.
I know it's asking a lot but what is the point of having markers on the floor of supermarkets for social distancing if someone in front turns around back towards you,or someone behind pushes past you?
You can hardly be in a hurry !

How about if the Yapi markets/garages/car spares places operated on a rota like the pharmacies do on a Sunday.

Surely that would cause problems with crowding and lack of social distancing.

imo there needs to be some system whereby people who's water supply / distribution, electricity supply / distribution are stopped or restricted for want of something from a yapi market can get such things. Having to turn off your water mains because you can not source a replacement 'part' is a health risk and essential. How this might be best done whilst minimising risk of spreading contagion unwittingly can be discussed after this principal is accepted imo.

In Ireland yapi shops, garages, plumbers etc etc are closed down but are available for emergencies.

Yapi; definite for reasons given above.
Tyre shops; it looks like I may have a slow puncture, may need repairing.
Akay Optics or similar; someone I know needs to get his glasses repaired

The danger with opening the Yapi is that builders get there requirements there! Human nature means that small (odd job) builders will be able to get materials and carry on working when they should not be out and about. More work for the police to do, more risk to spreading the virus and on and on.
However, I hope a solution is found and the Yapi's can open safely and sensibly - because I need wood, bricks, screws, slabs and all sorts of things to carry on building things in my own property instead of spending my days pulling weeds out of the garden - lol.

I can't imagine there will be the demand for such stores as you would get for say a supermarket. Banks are operating a one in one out system so maybe that could be implemented. The delivery service also sounds ok but then how many people will end up getting the wrong thing delivered?

Shut down.
1. Trump's Twitter account
2. Trump's pontificating over medical matters
3. Trump's door to the outside world
Open.
1. The eyes of Americans so they can see what happens when you vote for a nincompoop whose totally misplaced self belief is the stuff of comic legend... if he wasn't so dangerous it might be funny but he is so it's not.

Personally I do not think shops being open is the problem, it's the number of people being allowed to enter those places that are open which is a concern to me. It appears that there is no control.
If let's say all shops where open it could mean less crowding in the few shops open. A shop being open isn't going to cause the spread of the virus plus you can choose yourself if you wish to use that shop.
Anyway, just my thoughts.
More control is needed as to how many are in a store at any 1 time

Dentists. I really miss going to the dentist.
Joking aside, I have a broken tooth/lost filling. Not a problem at the moment but worried that it will become one.
The social distance distance should be opened, currently 1 metre should be more like 2. Far more effective than wearing a mask.

Jonnie, I phoned my dentist (he's closed) and explained I had a nasty abscess. He has told me to take a specific type of antibiotic (and whatever painkiller I chose) from Thursday to Monday morning and if it hadn't receded, then he would treat it as an emergency and remove the offending tooth. Means him driving from Lefkosa.

Am sure Seda would sort however as there is no pain I do not consider it an emergency therefore would not put anyone else at risk at this time.

Hi Jonnie.
The pharmacy by Supreme in Catalkoy sells temporary dressing kits for lost fillings/broken teeth/ loose crowns. I'm sure you will find it in other pharmacies too. Also ask them if they have any clove oil. Dentists use a version of this as the base liquid in temporary dressing materials (or used to when I worked with them in the UK) It has a very soothing effect on nerves.
Apologies if this post comes up twice - not sure what happened to the first one.

kevnmax, problem with that is, to quote one my sons this morning "Britain seems to have gone totally mad, there are great examples of kindness and generosity to others less fortunate but tens of thousands of people will use any and every excuse to leave their houses for what ever reason, particularly as the weather is lovely " B&Q seems to be a perfect example of what he described. Opening Yapi Markets here IMHO come under the same categority.

Yes Yapi markets - even if open only for couple of hours per day, with usual health precautions applied. being confined to home means lots of time to do DIY jobs/repair jobs. Some of us do like to be busy!!

Limiting the density of people in essential 'multi product' shops at a given time is important. I do not think the best way of achieving this is to open up more 'single product' shops that people can use. I think things like looking at the opening hours would have more impact. Bestmar for example was operating 24/7 thus allowing people shopping there to be spread out over time and thus less dense. I understand why compelling them to close at 8pm and the 9pm curfew were done but these things could be continually reviewed imo. Other things that could be considered would be pre assigning people specific time slots to visit specific multi product shops so that density at any given time in such shops could be controlled more effectively. Nor is density the only issue here. Adhering to measures like taking temperatures, sanitising hands and use of disposable gloves, using barriers around mouth and nose to limit spread and such things are also factors not to be ignored imo.
At the beginning of this week, with the announcement that Gul Bakery was to reopen on Monday, as someone that has always used Gul bakery in the past and enjoyed their bread and wanted to help them survive economically, I did choose to do a 'main shop' at Starling and then go on and get bread from Gul bakery in addition to this. In light of how things are progressing currently I am now revising such choices. The bottom line is that by making an additional stop in the 'single product' shop of Gul bakery, in addition to the the 'multi product' Starling, because I prefer their product, I was increasing to some degree the chance that I might either become infected or unwittingly infect others compared with just going only to the single 'multi product' Starling and make do with what was available there. Now I will be limiting my shopping to the single closest 'multi product' shop and looking to decease the frequency of those visits as well.
It is easy to look at what others do imo but I have always understood that I have next to zero control over what choices others make and what they do. I do have 100% control over what choices I make and what I do.

As Keith says a Yapı Market is a hardware/DIY store... notice, there is no tittle on the i of Yapı... it is not pronounced 'yappie' but 'yap-uh', google translate won't work correctly if you Anglicise the spelling but Keith has kindly corrected spelling for you.
Either way we want them open so folk can make repairs. As time goes on this will become a safety issue for some.
