James Bond

You are probably all wrong in assuming this about the sad death of Honor Blackman. No this is a piece I read from George Lazenby ( Oz actor, Frys chocolate man and Bond man in On Her Majestys Secret Servive ). He wants the next 007 to be a woman. Bond was a white Englishman a womanizer. What shocked me that this comment came from a former James Bond. It was bad enough having Dr Who turned into a women and I have nothing against women just create a movie for that person. On a final note who was your favourite Bond, my vote has to go to Connary!

My vote goes to who could have been - Michael Billington. I believe he auditioned on a few occasions but turned the role down when he was finally offered it. Lewis Collins also auditioned but Billington was perhaps the lesser known of the two outside of any UFO household.

If it is a woman and she beds men like Bond beds women she'll be branded a slag....

James would be an odd name for her ... not as odd as 'Connary' though!

Roger was the best comedic Bond.
Sean, first-ish and thus original.

Daniel Craig is. by quite some margin, the best Bond.

Yes he was so convincing in the fight scenes!
Mind no-one could wear a powder blue safari suit like Roger.

Connery followed by Craig for me but would liked to have seen a bit more Lazenby

There will never be another Bond for me with the oops of Connery ( and Roger Moore as someone else said is the Saint and evermore shall be so.)

But, while I can't see a female actor playing James Bond , I Can following the sad death or retirement of Bond , in these days of equality , imagine a woman taking on the post of Agent 007
,

As a woman I think it would be ridiculous. Same reason why I can't stand a woman Dr No. Sorry girls, its just one of those things!

As a man I quite like the idea of a female Dr Who. I can believe the fiction that he can periodically change into a totally different male body and personality but not a female one ? Bond is a bit different but as a successor to bond , why not ? I thought Dame Judy did a good job at female M. Why not a female bond successor ? They stop becoming 'Bond movies' and become '007 movies'. What about a female baddy ? Not as side kick eye candy but a real main villain I mena. Octopussy was not really a 'bloefeld' (cant be assed to check spelling) in my book. I could go for that too.

RR, that was my very point, and it was wonderful to read the whole poem again. Thank you.

Why not just leave alone, this obsession to be woke is ludicrous. They'll make it a woman and then it will have to be a black woman and so on.

As you say create a movie with a woman agent. Make her black, handicapable or anything you want.

The Bourne films were easily at least the equal of the Bonds and we've had 5 of them so far so creating alternate series isn't an impossibility

I campaigned long and hard for her to get the role of Russell "Stringer" Bell in The Wire. I think Idris Elba getting the role of the gangster drug baron over Dame Judy was obvious, sexist and racist.

On the same theme, just watched about ten minutes of the "new" Magnum. Maybe a good programme in it's own right but definitely nothing like the great Tom Sellek original. And horror of horrors, Higgens is a woman, no thanks!
