Bank Charges Turk Bankasi

As I live in the UK and am unable to travel to the TRNC at the moment, I have needed to top up my 'Turk Bank' account.
Last time I did this, I was charged 9% which I thought was pretty steep. This time I have been charged 26%
The only way that I have found to make an online transfer is to transfer from my UK bank to Turk Bank UK giving my TRNC account number as a reference. The money is then transferred to my Sterling account and I then have to do an FX exchange into my TL account.
It seems that there are no IBAN numbers available for 'Turk Bank' accounts in the TRNC which means that I am unable to use a company such as Transfer Wise.
Has anyone found a better way of transferring money?

Last time we were out we were given new instructions, which had a set of charges depending on the amount transferred. This was for sterling transfers only though, never changed sterling to TL account as always drawn cash. Charges for Sterling are £1 - £500 = £10, £501 - £1500 = £20, £1501 - £3000 = £30. It also says 3% govt taxes maybe applicable.

It was transferring sterling. I exchanged to TL afterwards, so the charge for the transfer of £200 was £52.
Can you advise of any method of transfer that you were given?

Twaddle, I made a transfer 6 weeks ago and was charged in accordance with Terri's comments above. Indeed I would add that the transfer was the same day and there were no transfer costs between my UK bank and Turk bank UK HO. No worry about the money going missing as a result of IBAN misreadings. Simple and successful way to transfer money.
I suggest you take this matter up with your English speaking rep in the TRNC branch of Turk Bank, as being charged £52 for a transfer of £200 seems extremely steep.

Send to Turk Bank UK, sort code 40-51-98 account 00005003, name on account, ref is your account number at local branch prefixed by FC. We have always transferred money this way, without the prefix on the account number, and the money has always got there next day, this way says it will be 2 hours. Not tried it yet as would have tried it this May, but that’s now by the board. Charges previously were about £20 plus local charges. Not sure about charges if you need to send more. This info was given to us by Sarah at Karakum/Catalkoy branch, by Eredeners last year. I have her email address somewhere if you PM me.

Just wondering. Has anyone ever had a response to either a PM or an email from Turk Bank?

Well guess that is a resounding NO then, hey ho, my lack of faith in banks here seems to be fully justified, I will keep on doing what I am doing after all.

When I have emailed in the past I have had replies. I haven’t emailed recently so didn’t post. I have a couple of email addresses for English speaking staff, Sarah in Karakum & Linda, who moved back Lapta way, not sure which branch.

Turk Bank, thank you, have responded.
Terri299, thank you. As I am Catalkoy based I would like the email address of the Karakum branch representative if I am not able to source it in the next week.
All, thanks for assistance, no panic and not in a rush but now happy to find that all banks here are not the same and my faith has been restored. Many thanks Turk Bank!
