Flights were supposed to start in May its now June maybee
Where does the money go with flights
A view of five unfulfilled flights over the last months
Where does the money go
Wizz cancelled when the South closed they wrote and advise a voucher for 120% of the flight value
Asked for a refund 24th March my Wizz account showed the money taken our for a refund
14th April they write and say I need to do nothing the money is on its way but will take time
Twenty days ago I asked the credit card to do a chargeback under rule 72 of the consumer credit act
they have not replied to my on account e-mail
Easy Jet friend was going to Portugal they can rebook for later in the year at a much increased price
except January
Or ring a line that doesn't answer at least it rang Wizz just cut off
Ryanair flight to Poland cancelled because of closed airspace by the Polish government
Refund offered by Ryanair as per the EU legal rights and claimed five weeks later a voucher is emailed with the if you want cash it will take time to sort as everyone is working from home
Aerlingus keep writing and offering transferable flight or voucher .The time comes and they have
moved the departure airport from Birmingham to Manchester .
I’m claiming a refund
Aerlingus is running its flights to USA empty so they don’t have to refund the tickets
Package holiday to Italy due to go this weekend they have sent an ATOL voucher for the value

Correction Easy Jet have put the refund form back on the website as of 20th April

Yes EasyJet have reinstated the compensation form but you have to tick a box at the bottom saying “by checking this box you acknowledge that submitting this claim will not refund your unused ticket.” You can’t proceed without ticking that box and are told if you want a refund to go to ‘manage bookings’. You are then back to square one calling the number that just tells you you to call back later and goodbye! EZ have exhausted my patience and am very unlikely to use them again!

Same problems here.
Flight 1 - EasyJet - Larnaca to Gatwick. Departing March 19th. Cancelled by Easyjet on March 15th. Could go to manage my bookings and claim full refund. Did that. Email confirmation saying it would be refunded within 7 days. Despite numerous emails - waste of time calling as number just immediately disconnects - and numerous online Contact us forms sent - still waiting for a refund on that flight.
Flight 2 - Gatwick to Larnaca. Depart March 24th. Cancelled by Easyjet at the same time as flight 1. Within 5 days full refund for that flight received (but paid in 2 separate amounts to the sum of the total flight).
Flight 3. Ercan to Izmir - departing 14th May - return 19th May. Pegasus announces that it is cancelling all flights until May 15th. If refund wanted need to call their Call Centre. Did that - as our outbound flight was on the 14th. Call center say Yes you can have a refund but we cannot pay it until 2 months after the flight ban is lifted.

re the Pegasus flight.
Can I ask, how long did it take to get through to the call centre please? The reason I ask is that a friend of mine tried a few days ago and gave up, he was on the phone for ever!! I need to claim a flight.
Did they take your details if and when they do refund your air fair?

Hi Kibkom
Just wondering on you opinions.
I've got flights booked for the 23rd of may for a week to land in ercan, currently they are after the suspension set by Turkish airways so no refund available.
I really want to visit as im staying in a villa and dont mind staying there for the whole week but unsure if north cyprus will still be border locked.
Confusing times!

We had flights booked with Turkish Airlines flying from London on 14th May, so the flight was cancelled, although the return flight on 8 June had not yet been cancelled. I have been able to rebook for free for flights in September - so keeping fingers crossed we might be able to take those flights. My understanding is that if you booked before 20 March 2020 you can change the flights for free.

All our international flights are suspended until May 20, 2020.
All our domestic flights are suspended until May 1, 2020.
Will these dates not include North Cyprus?

As far as I know (cop out!

) TA class Ercan as "International"

Hi Dang, we had TA flights from LHR to Ercan on 19th May, call to TA and have a full refund for all flights. Will have to wait for the refund, a couple of months so they said, but no quibble about doing it.
Keith, looking at some of the messages on the TA website, I’m not sure they know what they classify Ercan as

seems to have its own mention, not under international or domestic.

When we booked back in August last year. I would have never have predicted this to happen... In fact the bookie odds would have been amazing.
Maybe next time i book flights i wont be tight and buy direct from turkish for my flights rather that save a hundred pounds....then again the next time this happens i doubt i will be fit to fly.

We booked with gotogate and had a totally different experience. They have been very professional, constantly in touch with an agreement between us and them how to resolve the issue of cancellation.

Our flights to Dublin from Paphos with Ryanair was cancelled and we were contacted offering a refund or a voucher. I selected refund, and received an email saying that due to the current circumstances, a cash refund may take up to 4 weeks. We’ve now been advised that a voucher will be given & it’s impossible to get through to customer service.
In fairness to Ryanair, they are one of the few European airlines that have issued a lot of refunds. However in recent weeks most other European airlines have been putting huge pressure on the EU to rescind article 261 which requires a full cash refund on cancellation. They put the case that refunding the cash in these unprecedented times will cause bankruptcies. Due to this Ryanair has decided not to continue to be the only mug paying out. Unluckily for us.
Think cash refunds might be few & far between for a while.

Firstly, I wish you well!
I based my statement on my 2 experiences travelling via the new airport in Turkey to Ercan, where I had to follow the signage for International...
My general advice is to always use a credit (rather than a debit) card, so that in the event of non-delivery of the goods or services, you can at least claım from the card company!

It seems pretty clear, to me at least, that the airlines and the travel operator companies are breaking the law and not giving out cash refunds to people that are legally entitled to them in order to gain leverage over the government for public money in loans or grants.
It also seems to me that what the government should do is say, ok we will give you government back loans to exactly the same amount of refunds you have given consumers, once you have proven the customers HAS the money, no strings. Any other government aid they might need beyond this, then they can get down to the nitty gritty of negotiating 'conditions' for such state aid, on issues like executive pay and bonus, environmental standards. dividends and what ever else. If such a form of 'separation' is not done then the chance are it is us the consumer that are going end up shafted.

Re message no 5 - Mollie the cat. The Pegasus flight - i kept trying the call center via my Skype phone and it would not go through. I then used my Turkcell phone (it is a Call Center in Turkey i understand) and the call went through - i waited about 5 minutes. He took my booking refernece number and asked me to confirm the flight dates and lead passenger. That was all - then said it will be refunded onto the car that i paid with but i had to wait for 2 months after flights resume.

As I understand, there are three options depending how you financially trust the airline carrier that you've booked with.
1] Full financial refund if flight is cancelled by the carrier.
2] Voucher at purchase price value which is useless if carrier goes bust but at that price towards any future travel paying the difference for any increased fare imposed, which will be the case.
3] Deferred booking at any future date when travel is possible, honouring your original purchase price, which I think is the best option.

I'm hoping for the miles and smiles points, they have a three year expiry date. They seem quite a safe bet as Turkish airways is unlikely to fold.
I will report back how that goes

Turkish Airlines is rated as one of the top.European Airlines to.survive the crisis. BA is reckoned to be in the middle and there are reports in the media that they may pull out of London Gatwick altogether.

Wanderer re "Twenty days ago I asked the credit card to do a chargeback under rule 72 of the consumer credit act they have not replied to my on account e-mail"
I think you mean section 75 but regardless, this is what HSBC says about chargeback on travel bookings:
"Can you claim for travel bookings?
If flights, package holidays, or events are cancelled, it’s important to refer to your contract and understand the supplier’s terms relating to cancellations, refunds or re-booking in the first instance. If you do this before raising a dispute or Section 75 claim, this will help you set out your dispute or claim to us and could enable you to get a resolution quicker.
If your bookings are not cancelled, check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s (FCO) current travel restrictions for guidance and advice. There are different travel restrictions and in some cases bans on travel depending on your destination and dates of travel. So if your date of travel or event extends beyond the dates mentioned in the FCO’s advice, you may need to wait until the restrictions or bans are extended before being able to make a Section 75 claim.
If the supplier offers you the ability to re-book or a credit voucher, you will not be able to raise a dispute or claim under Section 75 unless this is in breach of the supplier’s terms and conditions.
If the supplier stops trading/becomes insolvent and cancels, but doesn’t offer a refund or re-booking, then you may be able to make a Section 75 claim."

Hi,
I finally got off my backside and called Pegasus yesterday. Used my phone as you suggested instead of SKYPE. Got through to an English speaking person who was very helpful, after a few minutes it was all sorted, as you say no refund until 2 months after flight resume which I think is reasonable.

I phoned Pegasus on Skype, no problem, answer on 4th ring. He politely told me that as I had booked my 16th May flights to UK using a Travel Agent then I must work through them. Did so, who in turn contacted Pegasus who have offered 3 Options. (2) Convert tickets to "open" for use any time during 2020 (3) Convert tickets to specific dates in 2020 with no extra charge . I have gone for Option (1) full refund, as it was too inconvenient to reorganise trip this year. I've been told to wait for minimum of 3 months for refund. I've more or less written the cost off. so treating a refund as a bonus if and when I get it. Nothing like one of my sons who has probably lost 9,000 pounds on a wonderful exciting 3 week trip to Africa. Then I would be miffed.
