Moving to Lapta

We're planning to move to TRNC at the end of June from South Wales. I thought I saw a post on here from someone wanting to share a container but cannot find it now...... let me know if you're interested.
I have all the usual questions but would like some guidance on whether it makes sense to drive a car over there or not. Specifically, I have a 2007 Mazda MX5 which is just over 5 years old. Can I bring it? Is it sensible or will the taxes be prohibitively expensive?
Keep up the good work.

Why not take a look at the British Resident's Society's web page. They have answers to most of the questions. Bringing a car can be expensive for import duty, and one is not allowed them if they are over 6 years. I know yours isn't but....... On the other hand, second hand cars here are nowhere near as cheap as u.K (Wales, even!) buit you need to find out the costs of bring it and importation (I know that is why you are asking, but I am writing just to ensure you DO make enquiries in the right direwction.
As to container, i am not sure how to search here, but I am sure Soner will tell you. or there may well be something on the old Cyprus 44, as lal the old posts are still there. Pob lwc i chi am bopeth!

I used a company called Euromed a few years ago which was based around Walthamstow to ship over 26 boxes but no furniture. It was relatively inexpensive and the items arrived in Cyprus around a month later

Hi Mukel
You are some months ahead of our intention, also to move to TRNC
Have you bought or renting, bringing pets ,keeping base in UK ?
Credit West seems to have good interest rates on the T/Lira 9.5 to 10% depending on amount deposited
Good luck with the move

Hi Gemini
We're renting initially in order to get some idea of what it's like to live through the summer.
Thanks for the advice about Credit West. We're ahead of you again on that one.
We may have to wait until we purchase before we can consider the pets.

I would be interested in sharing a container, but my house is in Surrey and not South Wales.

Hi billywiz
We are now looking at organising the container to arrive by 1st July if possible. It sounds like this is too early for you.
We've also contacted Dolphin twice with no response!
