Freddie Kruger or scream masks. OK it's a joke.
What's not a joke is the complacency that seems to be creeping in.

Somewhat amusing/ironic that (at least in the UK) people are/were requested to remove face masks and crash helmets before entering banks, supermarkets and other similar premises.....

Is there an English translation. It seems with my.basic Turkish that it is for 3 days only. Would that be right. Also I presume you get these from the chemists today as can't go out without one to then go.and buy one without being fined

The first one was by the mayor of Girne.
This is from the council of ministers and applies to everyone, everywhere.

When we all registered our sims last year, they got the info on the nationality of us all. I assume. This is one of the benefits of that process.

I hope the text is sent out in Turkish too because where I live nobody seems to know there is a lockdown. For the past week or so there have been bbq's, gardeners at work, building contractors unloading materials, family gatherings, the whole caboodle, while we are just waiting to be able to move to our new home, maybe I misunderstood the regulations that were announced.

Asked a women (European) in Supreme this morning why she was wearing her mask under her chin, the answer was "because it smears my lipstick"! Stunned! Noticed she was not wearing gloves either and asked "Are you not wearing gloves because of your nail polish then", sarcasm, Oh No, it's because my nails tear them so easily it's not worth it! Gave up and walked away.......

Mandatory to wear a mask in public. What precisely does that mean? When I am walking the dog where no one is or when walking where the general public are and in shops et.?

Surely that cannot be right? What would the sense in that be?
We have been told we have to wear them in shops or if you work in the service sector. They are a pain and I’m not convinced of their worth but will comply as I don’t fancy 3 years in prison or a 200,000 qr fine.
Cannot wait to start seeing them wash up on the coast line of North Cyprus in the not too distant future.

They must be of some use or surely surgeons, nurses and doctors wouldn’t bother with them.

my two penny worth
Masks protect the public from my breath therefore if people are around and if I am entering a closed in space I am happy to wear one
I have no problem with staff when I enter a shop or building placing their mask over their mouth and nose
Gloves protect me as I can dispose of them after touching things which may have the virus
But please why wear a mask in a car by yourself, plus driving with plastic gloves on I found it dangerous as they gripped the wheel so I will go back to sanitising the wheel and putting my gloves on when I leave the vehicle

From LGC:
“People who have acquired permission to go out on the street in North Cyprus will be required to wear a mask in public as of today.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay made a statement after the Council of Ministers, which took place on Wednesday, April 22, declaring that it would be prohibited to go on the street without a mask from Friday.
The General Directorate of Police reminded the of ban in an announcement today and stressed that legal action will be taken against those who do not comply with the ban.
The statement of the police included the following statements:
“As part of the measures taken by the Council of Ministers of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to prevent the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), everyone on the street for such reasons as food shopping, pharmacies, hospitals, fuel purchases and banks) in order to meet fulfil their permit requirements are obliged to wear a mask”.
“This is a reminder that legal action will be taken against those who do not comply with the ban within the scope of the decree, and we ask everyone to follow the rules”.
So according to this we have to wear a mask when going outside our home.

Wearing "civil" type masks. That's the simple folded flat mask with ear retention elastic offers a barrier to the expulsion of potentially virus carrying droplets. Its a barrier to YOU transmitting it , if you are indeed a carrier. Remember incubation can be 14 days before symptoms and illness.
For protection against receiving a dose of COVID. A barrier to eyes, nose and mouth is best form of protection. Full face VISORS provide the higher level of protection. Vinyl gloves are a good idea when going into the public "touch " domain such as food shopping , public transport....any surface that may have been touched or handled by others within past 24 hrs.
Washing your hands for 20 seconds minimum. Thoroughly clean the whole surface of both hands..in-between the fingers and thumb.
Soap and water (hot or Cold) is the best method. Hand sanitiser ( alcohol) is less effective. Soap denatures the lipid skin of the virus and it bursts instantly.
Just focus that the virus is every where all of the time as soon as you leave your own space.
If you do get ill. There are ways to enhance and support lung function by creating what is known as positive pressure balance around your head.
Also it is generally accepted that exposure to a concentrated viral load ( concentration of virus in a given volume of fluid carrier) leads to a more vigorous and problematic illness.

I have been wearing a mask and plastic gloves in the street and supermarkets for the past 10 days. It does not bother me and I feel safe. It will not be for long I hope. So I grin and bare it. We are so lucky on this island with so few deaths. I hope it stays that way. So I will keep my mask and gloves on!!

Was out today. Lots more traffic. I am not against masks per-se however social distancing is more effective yet we see people shoulder to shoulder all over the place.
However if the powers that be want compliance they should lead by example. In the space of 100mtrs today I saw 3 Alsancak municipality workers near Mediterranean Gardener, no masks. 2 further Municipality workers in a white pick up, no masks. 2 police officers in the same car, no masks and 3 army personel in a tanker truck, no masks.

Just come in from doing a little gardening. Saw several groups of people casually wandering along the street and not one was wearing a mask. Mind you I can understand one woman not wearing a masking as it is difficult to comply with the law whilst smoking a cigarette.
