I have picked two tics off my my back within the past two hours. Fact of life if you own dogs and keep them close. It is worse this year, but then again I said that last year too. Just remember if a tic bite develops into a sore resembling a bullseye get on the antibiotics quickly.

Having caught Lyme disease here 7 years ago now, I would stress to people please be very careful. It is awful and can be fatal, I do have lasting effects from it as it destroyed some nerve endings. I was treated here for it spent a week in hospital on antibiotics and high doses of steroids. Saw a specialist in Uk afterwards, who was very impressed with the treatment I received, but, I truly would not wish it on anyone. As my specialist in Uk said, I was very lucky, as it can attack your vital organs, but will have to live with the after effects. I don’t have a dog but we have sheep and goats that come close by and they are the carriers. Not all tics have it, only about 10 % but if you get bitten by one, and the bullseye does not show straight away.... it needs to be treated asap. I never even saw the tic, it bit me whilst gardening, a few days later a lump came up on my arm, then small blisters, the bullseye indicator was a couple of weeks later.... just saying.... this is what people need to be aware of. Lyme disease.
