Prime Minister Ersin Tatar, spoke to TRT about the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

There are have been no new cases in the last seven days and the indications are that Covid-19 infections are declining. Tatar noted that as in some other countries, the planning process for normalisation has started in the TRNC.

Pointing to May 4 for the beginning of the normalisation process, Tatar said, “The relevant discussions are being held by our health and science boards.”

Tatar stated that normalisation will begin with small businesses that “have little or no contact” and gave examples of the businesses to be opened:

“It is planned to open small businesses such as workshops, machine shops, carpentries. Food shops are already running. After that, the more crowded and then the most crowded ones will be opened.”

Stating that the businesses he described as “the most crowded” are restaurants, cafes and entertainment centres, Tatar said that the schools will be opened last.

Not sure what those meanings are? I am desperate for my yapi market to open but boy is he busy most days, and I mean busy, it would be heaving for days if allowed to open!

Complete contrast to the UK where schools are possibly outlined to be opened first and hospitality last, though probably not even by the end of the year. Still, May the 4th be with you

On the west side there's a bar open, back door, yapi market, side door, and all the garden centres, front door!!

Really? Know the garden centres are open, as far as I know they are allowed to now - but which Yapi market?

Wonder when the airport reopens?

We usually come via Larnaca but it will probably be easier to come via Ercan this time, especially if you have to self isolate somewhere.

Mr Immigration officer at larnaca “which address will you be self isolating in for two weeks?”

Mr immigration officer “Ok, no problem, hope you have a nice stay”

At least four yapi markets are open, front door, side door, back door,obviously not waiting till Monday, busy day tomorrow being a holiday.

After the feel-good factor of freedom on the horizon, the Government have added to the list of restrictions announced initially on the 29th. Below is the latest list of areas that will remain closed and what is not allowed from May 4th until May 15th. This list was released in the Official Newspaper of the government where all changes in the law are published. Areas of note are no beaches, swimming pools, home visits or having guests.

a- Tourism sector, accommodation, casinos, etc.

b- Entertainment venues, cinema, bars, cafes, coffee shops, beaches, pools etc.

c- Picnic areas, parks, etc.

d- Gyms, sports activities and amateur fishing places, stadiums, etc.

e- Public transportation vehicles etc.

f- Wedding halls etc.

g- Nightclubs etc.

h- Betting offices, internet cafes, massage parlours, etc.

1- Barbers, hairdressers, beauty salons, tattoo parlours etc.

i-Marketplaces etc.

j- Restaurants, patisseries, cafe, buffet etc. (Only takeaway services and pick-up will be open)

k- Mobile food vendors.

1- All kinds of collective activities.

m- Home visits and house guests.

n- Children's playgrounds, children's gardens etc.

o- Culture, art, exhibition halls, ruins, libraries, etc.

I'll just be happy to be taking my dog out for a walk and officially be allowed to do so, and if I so desire, venture a bit further for shopping. As for the other things, it's just common sense to curtail all those activities/places. We'd all love things to be back to what they were, but I'd rather have us all living and healthy, so will just carry on with masks, social distancing, but a bit more walking the dog to get us both a bit fitter.

Have been having a think about restrictions and those that will be less restrictive and have decided it will be a long time before we go into anywhere that appears crowded. I just don't trust an awful lot of people who we know refused to behave safely, so heaven only knows how they will behave when the brakes start to come off. It will be slowly, slowly particularly having listened to BBC this morning as to how the over 70's are being advised what to do. Just because it is becoming warm and sunny and pleasant to take the car out and leave our gardens, we will be in no hurry to do so.

We won't be rushing back to shops either. The Yapi markets will be packed, you will have to fight to get in the Pound Shop so how they are going to enforce the "take customer details" rule I don't know.

They'll need bouncers on the door, like that 'hand sanitizer' bloke that I posted!

I am staying put for at least another week to see how things pan out. Supermarkets are definitely going to be jam-packed.

They already are Soner, made three trips out yesterday and drove away from three different supermarkets because I could either not get a parking space or the que outside one of them was too long to even bother waiting. I could not believe the amount of cars in one car park and just wondered how anybody could have practiced any form of social distancing inside the market! Went out early this morning instead but places were still more busy than normal! Why? May 1st was only one day of holiday, did it not happen last year as well? Have people eaten everything in their cupboards all in one day - lol?

I think the biggest ques will be outside the Yapi’s - and I will probably be in one of them!

Reminds me of the old joke "He explained it much better than you!"

Just returned from a shopping trip to Erdeners supermarket we live in the centre of Girne no problems, everyone in Erdeners had masks on passed quite a few yapi markets all were quite.

Called in at Coban and it was quite busy bit plenty of staff on serving from different points to reduce the queue. Plus all of the staff were wearing protective visors rather than masks. Gloves supplied and a book to write your contact details down. Very efficient.
