Although Wolverhampton is a City its quite rural surrounded by countryside to the North & West
Earlier this week a very plump baby thrush could be seen from our bedroom window on a branch quite high up
Being regularly fed .
Unfortunately it fell to ground or attempted to fly too soon
There it was hidden from the road in undergrowth being fed still by its parents
Then yesterday morning the lawn was strew with brown feathers
Thank you cats the urban killers that stalk the streets

I would guess that far more baby birds are killed by other birds than cats. Certainly so in my experience living in the uk, the tits would have their babies in a box in our garden only to be killed by the magpies, very sad!

In Crystal Palace Park which we walk in every day (at some ungodly hour at the moment !) there was a pair of Egyptian Geese with 7 goslings about 4 days ago. The young ones have now all gone ! Probably foxes but who knows ?
PS for Soner
I am trying to increase my posts so that I may start to climb the promotion ladder. I have not been so lowly since joining the RAF as an officer cadet in 1960 !

It is fact that small birds form much of the diet of larger birds and other animals, weasels, stoats, foxes etc... nobody likes to see it but it's just part of nature's rich tapestry...

I agree with Groucho. It's upsetting to see fledglings taken by crows and the like, but nature is cruel. No worse really than us eating meat which has been conveniently slaughtered away from our eyes.

From the RSPB website - "....Magpies seem to be jacks of all trades - scavengers,
predators and pest-destroyers....
I have heard them described by country folk as "birds of prey"....

You missed out thieves, noisy neighbours and hooligans... wouldn't be without them though...

A blast from the past! Along with Brian May's style guru Mick Robinson...

Yeah but she could use an avatar from her heyday to make herself appear younger. I've heard that sort of thing goes on.
