TRNC Government Tourist Dept. Missing a Trick

I have just finished reading a full page report (and a lovely photograph) by one of the Daily Mails travel writers, the Headline being CYPRUS, THE SURE BET. The two pages previous had been short reports on the safest countries to visit now that European countries are starting to "open up". It is a glowing report on "Cyprus" and special notice is taken of the following:-

The Government will cover the cost of accommodation, medicine and food for tourists who test positive for Covid-19 after visiting, and their families. A 100 bed hospital has been set aside for holiday makers, as well as several Quarantine Hotels for the patients families.

I know this has been brought up before on the forum, but this is the most detailed I've read. I was waiting to find a mention of the North and this is it:- Cyprus's strategic position on the eastern edge of the Med Sea means it has been conquered and divided more time than anyone can count. Even today you've got Turkish territory in the North.

Thats all the information a potential holidaymakers gets. Sad isn't it?

The Deputy Tourism Minister from South Cyprus was interviewed by Adam Boulton on Sky News the other morning on this topic. They are obviously getting their act together in trying to attract British tourists, shame the North can't come out fighting their own corner, but from what I read on FB most British expats don't want to welcome tourists anyway.

The huge amount of extra dosh pumped into the TRNC economy from Turkey to help with coping with Corona virus primarily went to all Civil servants and Government officials to maintain their full salaries! 1500 Tl was assigned, as a one-off payment to employees in the private sector for the duration of the lock-down, which has not yet been issued nor received?!!
