Hi All

It's my turn to host an online quiz in the UK amongst a few friends.

A few years ago I attended an alternative quiz night at the Fez and it was a brilliant bit of fun. I thought I might be able to adapt the format to use online. The problem is that I can't remember completely how it went. I have a vague recollection that the quiz masters, Steve & ? asked for alternative names for certain words, then went round the tables for the teams answers. They also had chosen one of the alternative words and if the team being asked responded with the same word they'd picked the team had to put in the charity pot. Am I on the right lines? I recall there were some pretty risque subjects, but all in good jest.

If someone could confirm I would be grateful.

Yes you are right but they would also ask for each table to give the name of for example, a famous drummer, or to sing the lyrics to a sing by the Rolling Stones or name a book from the Old Testament or name a Carry In Film. Each table was only given a few seconds to answer and if they couldn't or chose the same answer as the comperes then they accrued financial penalties. If for example table 5 failed to answer or got the same answer, the next question would fall immediately to table 6 giving them the least time to think of an answer. Hope that jogs the memory a little. Hope it goes well!

That was me and Gary. Basically we had about 25 to 30 pre prepared questions dependent on how long the evening was.

We had an answer to each of those questions. As Gary went around the tables I asked the questions, If a table chose the answer we had, the famous saying was "its for charity" that table would have a mark chalked against them a 5 tl fine, we thought a maximum of 50 tl was fair for each table. You must know your stuff though as Gary did, to know if the table gave the right answer? Great fun, really enjoyed it, I may still have the questions if you need any? At he finish we whittled it down to about 5 or 6 tables with a final.
