...As a child (long ago, somewhere between 6 and 11 years old), climbing trees - almost certainly no more than 10-12 feet up - but I wonder how many nowadays have enjoyed that simple/exciting experience - or similar? :(

There are some great trees for climbing around by the monastery at Karsiyaka :-)

I used to love climbing trees, I didn't enjoy falling out of them quite so much though!

We used to climb trees, I remember climbing down from one, tripped over and fell face down, I was lucky I didn't lose my teeth. Had a huge fat lip that out rivalled a trout pout. Mum also made me go to school the following day!.😁

Spent many a Sunday climbing trees on Hampstead Heath as a boy. It wasn't such a popular spot in those days.

Keith I think you falling out of trees and maybe banging your head actually explains an awful lot about you Lol.
Frontalman I hate think what you were doing up trees on Hampstead Heath very very many years ago but I have heard it was probably illegal 🚫 before 1967.
Lovelife very amusing (sarcasm).
Jofra I am afraid all the kids have been experiencing this year is staying indoors due to coronavirus lockdown as they could not go out!

I do remember me and 3 friends went into an orchard as we felt we wanted to eat a few apples, and yes as we were helping ourselves to a few apples and the owner came running towards us and I thought it was a great idea to climb inside the branches as I thought id not been seen.

I watched as my friends ran away laughing and the man started to walk away and I was holding my breath thinking yesssssss he hasn't seen me and then all of a sudden he came running towards the tree shouting I know your up there so you can come down now, I was trapped in the tree but only a few feet off the ground, so I jumped down and pretended to hurt my ankle thinking he might say thats what happens when you trespass and steal apples and feel a bit sorry for me as I had hurt myself, he did and told me to go and not to come back, so off I went pretending to limp which was better than being taken home to my parents and of course once out of sight I ran away laughing so much and joined up with my friends. Children today will never have this kind of innocent fun.

One of my cherished childhood memories was sitting comfortably on the fork of two large branches overlooking railway lines. With me I had a bottle of Tizer, some squashed tomato sandwiches, a packet of Five Woodbines and my Ian Allan Midland Region Spotting Book. Bliss !
