Holiday July/August

Hi, this post calls for a fair bit of speculation from respondents, but I’m hoping that some of may have more of an inside track on what may or may not happen.
I have flights booked to arrive into Larnaca on 18th July. Do we think it will be possible to transfer over to the north as tourists? If quarantine is required, would it be possible to complete it in your own property? If a PCR test is still required, would one from the UK suffice or does it have to be done in the South?
TIA for any help/knowledge/guidance re this.

https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/quick-check this will be useful for you. Right now tourists cant cross from South but categories will change weekly.

My understanding of the opening of the security posts is that only citizens of ROC or TRNC well be allowed to cross. Test results will be required both ways. This is based on published information (“Border Checkpoints Open but Rules Confused” – LGC News 22.06.2020)

Hope this helps

Things are changing week by week so nobody can be sure how the land will lie in three and a half weeks time.

Bear in mind UK government has advised against all but essential travel so any travel insurance will be invalid until this is rescinded. I did read somewhere that NC Government were insisting on all 'tourists' needing travel insurance that includes cover for Covid19, so good luck with sourcing that.

Uk restrictions will be lifted on 29th June and air bridges announced.

With air bridges between the U.K. and named countries being announced soon plus other countries such as Spain, Greece and possibly Turkey looking to welcome UK tourists things will change in the TRNC. The ROC is also going to welcome tourists next month and the border restrictions between north and south will likely be eased.

Like it or not the TRNC will have to open up as economically and politically it cannot remain closed. If Turkey eases restrictions and entry for U.K. citizens the TRNC will follow. If Turkish citizens are allowed entry into the TRNC then this will signal an opening up.

Businesses will be desperate to recoup something from this summer season and those involved in the travel, tourist and hotel industries will be pressurising politicians to allow entry.

I would expect to see quarantine restrictions in the U.K. eased soon and maybe the first move by the TRNC will be a change to “home” quarantine. Add to this temperature checks at departure and arrival airports plus possibly the need for a Covid 19 test as well. All guesswork on my part and whilst the TRNC has done well to stop the spread of the virus, that was the easy part given its relative isolation. Some hard decisions to be made by politicians in the next few weeks and many will not want an opening up of the country and visitors arriving, however this is the phase we are now entering.

The virus will not go away but like flu will always be around, everyone will have to live with it.

Reading comments mainly on LGN I get the impression that tourists are not wanted in N.C.
What is the money that tourism brings going to be replaced by, perhaps holding the begging bowl out to Turkey.
They are just increasing the isolation that everybody is up in arms about

I suppose that you can interpret things any way that you want, but to say "tourists are not wanted in N.C." rather than "Coronavirus is not wanted in N.C." seems a bit of a stretch!

The tourism sector is desperate to rescue anything that they can from this year's tourist season, but the Government's response is quite rightly tempered by Public Health concerns - ours (mine!) in TRNC included!

Where are you located at this time?

By the way, what is 'LGN' ?

You Tatar Prime Minister, the future of Turkey, both in Turkey will be held in the TRNC said double tests. Tatar stated that with the measures taken in the economy, despite the Covid earthquake, the 2020 budget has reached a practical point. The General Assembly of the Republican Assembly continues with current speeches. ERHÜR financing In his current speech on the economic package, CTP leader Tufan Erhürman stated that the proposals to meet the needs of the society have been rejected to date by stopping to complain and taking action.

wanderer, was that a Google translation. At first I thought it made sense, but on second read, I don't actually understand it at all.

Sophie You arrive at the airport in Turkey with a test certificate that has taken place in the last 72 hours you land at Ercan and the TRNC test you again and you wait for the results if clear you go on your way the South are doing the same with certain countries .
The Premier league has been doing tests the Southampton Keeper was well tested negative clear for corona two days latter feeling just as well failed the second test he had corona no symptoms

There have been 4 deaths in the TRNC, 3 of these were Germans tourists who were infected before they arrived in the TRNC. The 4th was a Cypriot traveling from the UK and he was infected before he travelled.

So England "C" rated quarantine mandatory for two weeks at your expense TRNC government choice of venue and terms
Ireland B rated along with Turkey 72 hour test to take off and test on landing self quarantine on landing at hotel or your property
Could nit pick and ask what about Scotland Wales & NI
Seriously Ireland is in the same bubble as the UK and if you've crossed the border on the island of Ireland you cant tell the difference apart from the road markings
