Strange message from eXtend

I haven't been a customer for at least five years but today I received a text to "please take my national ID card or passport with me when visiting their offices as a transactions will require proof of identity". Obviously eXtend data bases are years and years out of date, and it only applies to present customers, but its a bit much isn't it, or do you think all ISP's will go the same way.

Yes we had the message. However we are with Extend so that's something! I guess it is similar to registering our sim cards which we had to do last year.

I can quite understand it if and when you sign up for the first time and perhaps when you pay a year in advance, but surely not every time you enter their offices for one reason or another. i.e. what constitutes a "transaction"

I think it's reasonable that if you access the internet through a company they know who you are.

That way...anyone googling 'how to build a bomb' can be dealt with.

Extend are a charlatan company. Over a decade ago I signed up with them for 3 months on the understanding I would be able to freeze the account whilst travelling abroad until my return. On my first try they refused due to change of company policy with the excuse that it could run for years if I was 'in' and 'out' of the Country on a very regular basis. Damn liars who need to be avoided at all costs!!

Wow, nothing like holding a grudge. "Over a decade ago".
Time to move on, life is to short.
And just for info. I have been with Extend for over 2 years. By far the best isp I have used in the
12 years of living here. Just my opinion of course.

We've been with them for years , never had any reason to complain. If anything goes awry they are here in a shot to identify and solve the problem. Can't recommend them enough.

I appreciate everyone saying how good they are, and I'm delighted for you. Doesn't help me with the wording of the two messages they have sent me (not a customer) its ambiguous to say the least and if its a new law, then why haven't I had a message from Nethouse who are very good at communicating.
