Can anyone please confirm, one way or the other, if there will be an air show tomorrow as in previous years? The chaps in the harbour as selling boat trips for this event, but I've not seen anything official?

I have just looked at their schedule for 2020 but there is no shows listed. Normally they practice a couple of days before but not seen anything.

I read somewhere a few days ago (one of the online newspapers), that the show had been cancelled this year due to Covid. I think there is going to be a flyover by one or two jets at the ceremony in Lefkosa, can't remember if Girne was mentioned.
I have looked but am unable to find the article.

Have just come back from lunch and the owner etc seem to think that basically it has probably been cancelled, however yesterday I did hear (but didn't see) 2 jets go across the sea once, but that's all. However, I'm pretty sure the locals will gather on Escape Beach for an unofficial candle lit vigil until the early hours as they always do. Whether they have the marching etc in Lefkosa I have no idea, but people I know who have to go to BRT studios are going via Taskent, just in case.

Just flown over Karsyaka. Two in close formation, one further out to sea, unless it was a vapour trail.
Don't think that they are the display team, standard air force colours.

Concur, the only jet sounds I heard in Girne were 'boy racers' showing off their latest modified exhaust systems to annoy anyone they could!
