Landlords beware of PAYG water meters!

Hi when taking possession of new apartments in 2011 we were horrified to have to pay £1600 each for the water meters however we partly consoled ourselves with the fact that tenants would not be able to run up bills - WRONG!
The monthly charge for these meters is 38 tl which includes 10 tons per month, however if the tenants do not use 10 tons or have water delivered by tanker when they want it, the taxes for cleaning, sewage etc still accumulate monthly plus fines of course.
So Landlords when preparing exit statements you will need to check at the kiosk in the car park to see if there is a bill outstanding.
