I need a few items from the U.K that in normal times friends would bring over for me. As nobody is travelling at the moment does anyone know the best way to get a suitcase full of items over to TRNC?.

Euromed did an offer for excess cases for the repatriation flights, £30 for 20kg case and subsequent 20kg cases for £20 (if memory serves me right) you could try them.

KMR in Famagusta are excellent. They ship from London to Famagusta and do a door to door service. We have used it twice and very happy with their very professional service. A box costs 25.00 sterling. Phone Kamil on 0533 859 3232. He will help you. We thoroughly recommend them.

Thank you for your replies. Are there import costs on top of these prices?

The customs people will meet you in the warehouse to open your case, if there are any electricals then you will be charged import also the same for anything with tags on. If the case is filled with used personal effects then there will be no import. When my cases arrived they even pulled out some solar fence lights I had got from the pound shop because they were still sealed but they must have taken pity on me and let me off.

Does this mean that I could order say, a Dyson cleaner from Amazon, have it delivered to KMR in London and then KMR deliver to Famagusta. Certainly cheaper than buying one from down South. The maker or breaker would how much Customs charge in Famagusta. (have just read the last message, which answers my question. It would be a No, No then. )

Does anyone know if you can bring in vitamin tablets?
I have a feeling they may not be allowed.

In reply to your question about vitamins....yes I ordered some turmeric tablets for my dogs and a big pot of multivitamins was also in my box. We had no Robles at all. If the dyson was taken out of its box perhaps customs would let it go through.

You could ask the sender to do bit of vacuuming with it, and sprinkle a little dust over it :) - although I'm sure thst the customs guys have seen it all before, and a pal of mine who worked for UK Customs said that they could tell the age of appliances by the serial number - they had a book which listed the various manufacturers' methods for configuring the serial number to indicate the date of manufacture.

Good luck anyway!
