Sonic boom ?

Is it possible that the boom 30mins ago was from the Lebanon explosion ?

Just been confirmed that it was the explosion in Beirut in Turkish press.

Ammunition arsenal is best bet though firework plant is a possibility however, seems it came from the port area where loads of ordnance are stored.

Now thought that it is an industrial accident, a fire works factory.

We felt it in Karsiyaka. I said immediately that it was an explosion and went up on the roof terrace to look for smoke, thinking maybe it was another present from Syria. I believe it was some time after six pm our time.

Heard the bang in Ozankoy. Reports say it was stored explosives that went up, it sounds similar to the explosion on the Greek side several years ago.

At 22:45 UK time, BBC news "at least 70 people and injured more than 2,700 others"; God please have pity, mercy and help for them.... :(

Having watched this mornings news programme, a huge part of Beirut looks to be absolutely carnage in the light of day. Results of dead and injured going up all the time. Its difficult to know what to say at a time like this.

They say it was caused by Ammonium Nitrate being stored for too long and something sparked it off. Ammonium Nitrate while being a fertiliser can be used in explosives
