I heard 2 - presumably staff...

Karakum store was closed as of 4pm today, I have no info on when it will re-open - they will probably be testing the rest of the staff or quarantining them! - and doing a 'deep clean'.

It's a different World that we're living in, folks - just wear a mask, wash/sanitise your hands frequently, don't touch your face, avoid crowded areas, no hugging or kissing.

I went to see my Urology Prof at the NEU hospital 3 months ago, and we warily approached each other sideways and jabbed elbows :) - and then sat as far apart as we could!

Dodgy places, Hospitals, - full of sick people! (his words).

Lemar made a statement and announced that a positive case was detected in the Karakum store and that the case was isolated and sent for hospital control. The announcement that the Karakum store will be closed today due to the medications to be made is as follows: “Dear Lemar Karakum customers, In these days when local contamination is increasing in our country, a positive case we detected in our Karakum store as a result of the tests we have made for all of our personnel was isolated, sent to hospital control and started to be treated. Although we have taken all the precautions recommended by the relevant Ministries in our country within the scope of the pandemic, it has become inevitable that such cases occur in the markets that operate in the highest risk group and visit thousands of our citizens daily. Our relevant personnel are in quarantine since the day they are tested and their treatment has started; We wish him a good time from here once again. Tests were also made for all other Karakum personnel (34 people). However, because human health is above all values for us: We will make PCR tests again after three days for all our personnel who can be considered as contact, and we will remove the uncertainty of returning to positive and we will ensure that these personnel remain in quarantine by giving 14 days of paid leave.

I'm glad you are emphasizing the hand washing bit. I was chastised by someone on this forum near the start of the shut down when I banged on about the importance, and how Covid could infect more people, faster than ignoring the masks. Hand washing and rubber gloves are essential and I notice that Lemar in Alsancak and now handing out gloves again.

Not sure handing out gloves is going to help, hand sanitiser on entry & leaving would be cheaper & kinder to the environment

I've shopped there a few times and found the majority of customers speaking with incomprehensible Scottish, Northern and London accents!
Best avoided open or closed!!

Doctors do not recommend the use of gloves except in a medical setting. There was an interesting clip on FB a few months back when a doctor showed how deadly they can actually be. Hand washing and sanitiser should be the way to go.

Maisemoo, I hate the flimsy fine, one size fits all gloves, being handed out at Lemar, which I sprayed thoroughly before shopping. But I've no objection at all to the "surgical" type of glove whilst shopping, because I treat them as a second skin and spray accordingly. I also spray the handle of the trolley thoroughly first. Young girl taking the temps was engrossed.

Slightly off topic but the rate of Covid is now marginally higher per capita in the north than In the south and Is rising at a faster rate. This probably explains why the south figures are no longer quoted on the LGC website.
It’s a terrible shame that having defeated the virus earlier and splashing it all over various websites the government has since been so inept.

So do all the shops / supermarkets that take our temperatures check all their staff temperatures every day as well? Just a thought.
