If you believed you had just one hour to leave your home in North Cyprus, what preparations would you make so you we’re ready?

A similar situation would arise if a lady was pregnant and had her “go to” bag ready in advance.

In case you wonder, I do not have advance knowledge of the Frogs/Bubbles arriving this week, but on a previous thread I mentioned “Failing to Plan” or “Planning to Fail”.

Another scenario are the wildfires we saw in Australia and now in the USA.



To start this off I think the following is important.

1. Keeping cars full of fuel.
2. Keeping cash/credit cards/jewellery in a safe place, but check your safe is working and you know where the key/combination is.
3. As above but for passports/other important documents. Possibly take digital photos of everything and either email them to yourself, someone you trust or that cloud thing up in the sky.
4. Have up do date wills in place wherever you have assets.
5. Keep medicines stocked up.

That’s my initial input, no scaremongering intended.

Agree with what you have listed.

Presume you mean if the situation were similar to the “wild fires” in Australia and the USA.

Ensure mobile devices were “topped” up if required and important contact numbers were up to date. In addition I would likely have some food essentials to last a couple of days. Plus I would gather together any small sentimental items such as photos etc. Of course if your a pet owner like us we would be also thinking what we would need for them.

Of course the challenge would be to try and not take the whole house with you!

A fully charged Battery pack to replenish your 'Phone and a solar charger to keep the battery pack topped up.

I think the boy scouts motto "Be prepared" is one of the sickest things I've ever heard. Live life as it comes.

And passport for a quick getaway!!

I think if we are talking the breakdown of civilisation then the main thing you need is a gun.
You could get everything you needed with a gun and more importantly if you had everything you needed then you'll probably need a gun to keep it. I can see where you are going with gold but trading it might be a problem

I can't bring myself to complete the sentence being as it and as I've already pointed out, based on a factual error. That is the definition of the spike as a tool for something other than ropework.

Ah, that's because you obviously were misled by the forerunner of the internet.... silly lies told by boys. There is no spike on multi-blade pocket knives that was actually intended for horses hoof use. It was a myth, it's still a myth. I was also told this lie as a boy. It still doesn't make it true.

It was and is actually called a Marlin and you could use it to do all sorts of things it was never designed for - but that doesn't mean that's what it is meant to be for.... does it? You might as well label the other blades 'butter and jam'...

When I joined the Army in 1962 I was issued with one of those, albeit not as posh. Being an inquisitive sort I asked what the spikey bit was for and informed, together with a few expletives, that it was for removing stones from horses hooves. Everywhere I went I carried the knife with me just incase I could rush to someone's aid and remove a foreign object from their lame horses' hoof, alas it was never required and at the end of my service I handed it back, unopened. At the risk of going slightly off topic I was also issued with a Housewife.

I got one of those too when I joined in ‘67 (I know - sprog!)

But I also got another one from the army in Hong Kong which I ended up marrying (ex WRAC!)

I also got this wash kit which made a brilliant tool holder!
