Taken off plane for petty theft

Tugrul Erdal was in the departure lounge of Ercan Airport on Thursday afternoon (20th December) waiting to board the flight to Ankara. In the departure waiting area, he saw a pair of sunglasses on the floor and picked them up, taking them with him.

Unfortunately for him, he was observed by Edil Tuncel, the owner of the sunglasses, who notified the police.

The 55 year old Mr Erdal was arrested on the plane that was about to set off and removed from the aircraft. He has since appeared in court and confessed to the theft. He is now on bail and cannot leave the TRNC until the police have concluded their investigations – whatever those may be.

Why didn't the loser approach the man himself? If he saw him pick the specs up he can't have been far away??
It seems a gross over reaction and waste of police and court time!
Perhaps there is something more to it???

The man who called the police should be arrested and charged with wasting police time. If he saw the glasses being pickd up why did he not just ask for them back. Unless of course there is more to the story!!!!!

One assumes that Edil Tuncel, the owner of the sunglasses, CAN prove ownership !!!

What brand were they? POLICE?

If he saw the man pick them up then he must have known they were on the floor,... why didn't he pick them up himself ?

Seems strange. Maybe he asked the guy for them back, and he told him to bog off?
