169 passengers from the ferry terminal were returned to the ship this morning because the quarantine hotels are full.
Is there no checking of availability of places before they leave Turkey?

Surely it must be worth hotel owners who have shut up shop, opening their hotel(s) to take advantage of the quarantine trade?

I believe that some of the hotels actually shut down, rather than act as quarantine locations because of the poor rates.

Last weekend we booked two nights at the Arkin Palm Beach for mid October after seeing their ad in Cyprus Today.
Two days ago they phoned to cancel our booking because the government are turning it into a quarantine hotel as from 5 October.

paul90, if you have your residency permit in order go for the full 7 days at no charge once it is a quarantine hotel - lol. Always a bright side......
No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again.

You are welcome to my room, only 2 or 3 days to go, not really sure, as there has been no communication except when they came for payment, but had no answers as to when test day is.

I had my test the day before my release, a nurse comes to your room and performs the test. The following day reception rang me to say I could check out. ( this was in july)

I arrived at the hotel at about 4am on Sunday morning, my 7 nights will be up tomorrow, (Sunday Morning).Does that mean I will take my test today (Saturday) and hopefully leave tomorrow (Sunday), or take the test tomorrow (Sunday), and leave on Monday.

Yes, that's how it worked for me, I arrived early Saturday had my test Fri pm and I checked around 11am on the Saturday.

and
I have also been told some declined due to the poor rates

and surely many can not open, because they have sacked all their staff back in april.
the rates are low, but not (much) lower as a normal "winter rate".

all this mandatory "prison like quarantine" is caused by the low disciplin of foreign travellers (mainly from TR i guess) and therefore is, on top, a good reason to subsidy the hotel industry.

with a little bit more acceptance from the people and a bit more flexibility from the gov other ways would have been possible, eg, for everybody 5 days home isolation plus one test.

There was a time when it was home quarantine, but unfortunately too many people ignored it, your guess is as good as mine as to who were mainly responsible, 🤔
As a result we all have to pay the price, a bit like life in general, the actions of a few idiots impact on everyone. I did think that when the Government announced a large increase in penalties for people who broke the quarantine rules, that they would continue with home quarantine, but that didn't materialise. I have just been told that I will not be tested until tomorrow (Sunday) as I arrived early Sunday morning, if the results are not back sharpish, then it will mean a total of 8 nights in quarantine 😫, but I do feel for the many students who arrived at the same time as me who have to spend at least 14 nights.
