Paid mine with a Debit card today,don't know about credit card

I used a Barclaycard in the past, before I got a Revolut card. That was before the on-line system.
You will need a local card to pay for the Health Insurance if you are paying online for the State Insurance - not applicable if you've got Private Health insurance, of course.

Just tried with my Halifax Card Clarity ,which I pay everything here with and I mean everything !!!!
Computer said No.....

If its the payment for health insurance card, it has to be a local bank card
The final payment for the permit itself seems to accept other cards.

Yes - the insurance has to be local CC
