The singer Jonny Nash also passed away yesterday. Two legends.

Always ages you, news like this.
I remember seeing Van Halen supporting Black Sabbath at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1978. They were completely unknown, certainly in the UK, so most spend their time in the bar waiting for the main act but Van Halen had virtually everyone hurrying from the bar to watch them.
I believe he has been very ill for some time so RIP

Amazing I was at the same gig.
Like you remember getting stoned at the bar and fellow greasers coming in and telling people to get drag themselves from the bar to see this band no one had ever heard of, they got several encores which was unheard of for a support band and I seem to remember because of their lack of material at the time had to repeat a song.
Sabbath had to be on top of their game to follow, they were!
RIP Eddie

I knew I knew you :)
I'm glad your memory was the same as mine, you always wonder if you might have embellished it down the years.
