Turk Bank - Karakum

Don’t bother trying to contact TurkBank Karakum - accounts at that branch have been moved to Girne and the branch is now closed!

Text message received today at 15:35, called the number provided to confirm and it has been confirmed that the branch is closed permanently. No problems with account movement and nothing to worry about - apart from finding a parking place, lol.

To be honest, as I bank on-line mostly and only go into an actual building to withdraw/deposit cash I have no problems with this at all, I expect the "One person at a time" rule for entry may make the que longer but that is about it.

Many thanks Turk Bank for letting me know.

Sad news.

Strange too. I was in there earlier in the week and no-one said anything. Also there's a post on another thread from them saying it's just rotation.

Will take your word for it as you've spoken to them but I will use the girne branch rather than online. I'd like to keep people in a job.

It would be nice to send out an email or some comms to let people know. Maybe with new contact info. We are in the UK so use online unless we are coming. Would hate to send money only to find the branch closed when you want to take it out. 😀 At least now aware we’ll have to go into town.

Strange that - they were open last year as well!!! What more can I tell you? How about this:

"TURKBANKASI> Yesterday 15:35

Dear customer, In order to serve you better, all your accounts at Karakum Branch will be transferred to Girne Branch as of October 12, 2020. You can perform your banking transactions through Girne Branch, all Turk Bank branches, ATM's, the Internet Branch or the Call Center. For information 444 73 73"

Following receipt of the above message on my phone, which I have now retyped above, I called the number given and spoke to a Bank representative. I asked if this was temporary or had the Branch at Karakum closed permanently. I was informed that the Branch at Karakum was now closed permanently!

As today is the 10th of October and Monday will be the 12th of October, all accounts will have moved to the Girne Branch on Monday, so if you have any query - because you are a customer and have not yet received the same text as above - please feel free to form an orderly queue outside the Karakum Branch - and wait for it to open - good luck with that.

Michelle, Why? It is only a branch closure, not a Bank closure. Probably another casualty of Covid 19 effect on economy and not enough “Trade” to support a branch. It should have nothing to do with your car insurance at all! The normal banking systems will all continue, just not at Karakum.

Perhaps Turk Bank would care to comment as we know they read this forum?

Don't have a clue, will search around tomorrow morning when there is less traffic and find places to park etc. Only need to go there if my ATM card ever arrives so not too worried.

I have used the one about 500m past the old HSBC going into Girne, on the right.
Not sure if there is more than one.
UPDATE
I have been told that this branch is also closed, hope I didn't inconvenience anyone.

There is a Turk Bank branch just up from Cafe George, on the same street and same side of the pedestrianised area. Very close to the main car park. You cannot miss it.

The one near Georges is, I believe, the main Girne branch.

I have been using the ATM at that bank for the past 20 years and it never clicked with me that it was "TurkBank" - no fool like an old fool - lol. Saves me a voyage of discovery tomorrow - thanks all.

Dear Karakum Customers

We write to advise that Karakum branch is now closed as we have merged with Girne main branch. All customer accounts, insurance policies etc, have been transferred to Girne main branch.

Our valued customers will receive the same services with no disruptions.

The Covid 19 virus means a lot more customers are using digital banking instead of visiting the branches, therefore Head Office made the decision to merge both our branches.

Girne branch is located near Cafe George and Windows bar, with plenty of parking spaces at the Girne Municipality car park which is opposite the branch.

Customers can continue to use any of our ATM's and branches and also internet and mobile banking.

Girne branch telephone number: 0392 815 2101. Turk Bankasi Customer Helpline number: 0392 444 7373.

Kind regards
Turk Bankasi

Shame! We picked Turk Bank at Karakum because it was so convenient as we live East side and it didn't involve driving into town, which these days can take 35 minutes!

Erm, that one was also a sub branch - 500m past old HSBC on the right - the main branch is very close to the main car park!

Go to main car park, walk out to the West towards Cafe George, cross the road by the side of the lottery kiosk, you can see the bronze women sat on a bench reading a book in front of you! Look to your right, BIG building, Turk Bank!

Nowhere near the old HSBC!

Stolen from Keith - "Girne branch is located near Cafe George and Windows bar, with plenty of parking spaces at the Girne Municipality car park which is opposite the branch." - what else is there to say?

I have tried emailing Sarah at Turk Bank, but the email is undeliverable. Does anyone have a new contact as I am having problems accessing online banking. I’m not getting the text on my UK mobile, so just want to check they have the correct number.
Thanks
