Please help us find Sophie

Sophie is a tiny female, neutered dog cream/pale honey coloured. (Resembles a long hair dachsund - sort of) She disappeared late this afternoon whilst being walked near the top of the hill on the road called Kani Akansu Cad, opposite to Sams Place in Alsancak. She was spooked by the sound of a gun close by. She is wearing a red harness which is attached to a red extended lead, which she runs like hell to avoid, but obviously is stays with her. She has no name tag as we were just trying out the harness and hadn't transfered it from her collar. Please, please help with the safe return of this tiny little love. She is a real home lover and will be terrified being out at night, particularly as everytime she moves, she drags the heavy handle of the extender lead with her. Please phone 0533 8400380.

(I can't figure out how to put a new message on the Embargoed Forum, could someone PLEASE put the above message on for me. Thank you very much. )

Thanks for your replies. We were trawling the area and the lower slopes until it was too dangerous to do so last night and are just about to go out again. She is so tiny but someone must have seen her pulling a long red lead and handle around behind her. She is eminently stealable as well, particularly as she has harness and lead attached.

Thanks, will do. Different dog I'm afraid. Sophie is so little she wouldn't be able to get that far and she's a cream colour with red harness and dragging an extended lead behind her..

Where exactly did you lose her as I sometimes take my 2 dogs as far as the water tank at the top of the road and one is a really good sniffer dog so if she is around they will find her.

One of the places we go is the water depot, but I think you might be talking about a different one to me. I mean the Alsancak water depot which is higher up the hill than the tank at the back of Dream Land. She was spooked high up on the edge of the ravine. We've had five people hunting her this afternoon, plus a sniffer dog, without success. One dog "expert" told us to keep an eye open for rooks circling in the air, it's a sure sign of an injured animal and there was nothing to see in that respect.

BTW, Soner have tried sending you a recent picture of Sophie on info@kibcom.com and it bounces back each time.

Here she is. Hope someone recognises her, or may even have taken her in not knowing to whom she belonged.

Please, please can people keep an eye open for her, she won't be able to cope with the bad weather coming up. Someone in the Alsancak area must surely have seen a dachshund sized dark cream coloured female dog , wandering along dragging an extension lead behind her. If you have a neighbour or someone in your street or apartment block who has suddenly acquired a dog of this description, (she could easily be mistaken for a puppy), please contact me at any time day or night on 0533 8400380. KAR are aware of her disappearance and will contact me as soon as anyone phones them. Obviously someone might think she makes an excellent package i.e. red harness, red extension lead, speyed small and very pretty.

Thankfully Sophie has been returned. Allegedly she managed to climb right up the mountain side, dragging the extension lead behind her and was picked up near the mounain track to Karaman. Yesterday morning we swamped Karaoglanoglu and Alsancak with posters of her picture and details, together with a reward. After three false alarms, when we were offered other dogs "for free", we had a phone call from someone saying he knew who had her and what was the reward. " we said, when we have her safely in our car, we'll discuss money". Half an hour later we had her back and reward handed over. She was spotlessly clean, fed and no way had she climbed the mountain side. So beware, if you have a pretty little dog, never let her out of your sight and don't go walking towards the mountains on Sunday or some Wednesday. I won't be commenting on her return anymore, other than to say "Money Talks" but thanks all of you who showed their concern.

Excellent news. So glad you have Sophie back safe and sound.

Find it a bit sad that people would actually take a reward under the circumstances, but as you say "money talks"

What wonderful and sad news all at the same time. I am thrilled that you have Sophie back, and how wonderful that people have rallied round to try to help and even more wonderful that someone came up trumps. But, the sad bit is the person who had the dog. It should NOT have been money that talke,d but love and compassion. At least everyone else was talking that language! But I am SOOO glad she is back, and I hope she realises how important she is. How fortunate is sophie to have you as parents!

Happy endings are so nice, and I am glad you had one.
