Im trying to renew my tax online which I've done previously for a different car so i know the procedure. My problem is it firstly tells me the id information is false (I've put p in front of my passport and its the one used when i purchased the car). I do it all again and then it tells me to check verification code which i have also done but then each time it just throws up these two obstacles. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to spend the morning at the tax office.

Did you use a capital P??

I did and when i emailed them there was no mention of a p so i removed it and it went through, its now saying i cant pay as i dont have an mot which i do so I'm just in email communication now

I am having the same problems,it will not accept my date month year,any suggestions

A couple of suggestions - could be the date of registration is different to what they have registered! And also you do have to fill all the spaces for the date ie if it is 4th June say, you would enter 04 06……

The email for the car tax office are pretty good at replying if not….

Have to say there are a number of ways that you can be caught out on this system...

You have to use the passport number (preceded by the letter P) of passport that was used when purchasing the car and if there are 2 people named on the blue kocan, it has to be the passport of the first named person. I've written the right number in pencil on the kocan for future years.

As per the above guide use the drop down calendar, just select the year first. If it still doesn't like the date of registration from the front of the kocan, try a day or 2 either side. Worth a try.

I had a heck of a job when I first tried renewing -on-line and as come-on-aylin says it was down to the wrong passport number. In fact it was three passbooks back!! As soon as I got that correct, it was a doddle.
