Have you lost your dog?

We have a golden retriever type of dog on our balcony! Blue tag in left ear. Friendly looking animal but we do not want to get too close and it will not go away! We have seen it with a few other dogs running around the road for the past week. We live in Gazi Sokak, Alsancak. Please message me if you think it is your dog.

Blue tag means he’s a Belediye Street dog. Has been neutered and tagged by them. Can’t remember what area a blue tag is but maybe Girne. Not sure

Also he maybe one of the Freedom Sanctuary dogs. They are experts at escaping their safe place ! Maybe if you phone Nulten Oral she will be able to help. She has the hair salon called Nulten in Alsancak

Thank you for your suggestions. We cannot get out of the house at present. It is very persistent!

KAR are not interested as the dog is not sick or injured. Their kennels are full.
Called Alsancak Bellidere, they sent someone around within 30 minutes, much to my surprise. However the men who did not speak English, just laughed. They shewed the dog away and said 'problem yok' as if that would do the trick. Minutes after they left it returned to our balcony, where it is now. We have tried to shoo it away, make noises with brooms and sticks but this dog is 'streetwise'! We are now getting 'attacked' when we go out (guess its getting hungry as we are not feeding it) and have to creep down our back stairs! We cannot even get wood in to feed the fire!

I am sure the dog is not aggressive as the Beledeyesi would have removed him.
In any case you are probably ending his short life if the Belediyesi did take the dog.
Why don’t you do the kind thing and feed and give water to the dog away from your house.
Then tomorrow post the dog on some of the charities that are on Facebook and ask for help/ new home etc
It’s something that comes to us all here unfortunately and these dogs don’t want to be on streets - we have had 4 dogs over the years dumped on our road and fortunately managed to rehome them all.
Good luck and keep us posted

The said dog has now moved on. I went out to get some food to feed it up the road, but after 3 days it moved on. Being a farmers daughter, married to a vet and a son who is a vet, this gave me some insight. It might have taken a fancy to a 'cat supper' at the house next door, not sure, but at least at present we do not have the problem. We can actally get in and out of the house without the dog issue. It was actually very agressive towards men but not women. It hated noise such as the strimmer, chain saw, blower etc which might also be a reason it left as the gardeners worked Saturday. This must tell us something about its earlier life. You asked for an update, so here you go!
