Can you put any context on that?
Where is it? Who is it? What are the rules there? What are the fines?
I'm not on facebook for obvious reasons (I'm a grown up) so I'm probably missing something but I'd like to know what's going on before I chastise anyone.

The Cyprus Turkish Medical Association Board of Directors made a written statement and criticized the New Year celebrations at the hotels.
The statement is as follows:
“For Whom are the Rules?
As KTTB, in order to protect public health, we have been actively taking measures against the Covid-19 virus, which is increasingly spreading in our society.
On New Year's Eve, we watched with sadness and astonishment the violation of the decisions taken by the Contagious Diseases Executive Committee through various communication sources.
Knowing that there is no exception to the rules and the measures taken regarding public health, it was announced that New Year celebrations were prohibited in all indoor and outdoor venues across the country. The images we see unfortunately reveal that this rule was not applied.
We would like to thank businesses that complied with the rules and remind everyone that we, as a society, will have to suffer the consequences of the reckless actions of the businesses that think that they are above the law (such as holding new year entertainment against the decisions with casinos remaining open, etc.).
We invite all relevant authorities to fulfill their legal obligations (inspection and punishment where necessary).
We remind our people that the cautionary decisions taken during the New Year holidays are to protect our own health, and we repeat that failure to comply with the measures is the biggest crime that can be committed against public health".

I bet the people who actually participated in the Lord Palace celebrations will be the first to whinge if they come down with the virus. Same with the people who attended all the the other 5 Star Hotel events. (plus they could be passing it around to the rest of us on a day to day basis) I'm sure they will consider they have done no wrong and blame it on the Hotels for advertising the events in the first place (Everybody else is to blame but themselves) Same old same old.

Absolute disgraceful behaviour! How on Earth are we to beat Covid with this being aloud to go on???? Shame on those that attended and shame on the authorities for allowing it to go ahead.
Stay safe everyone, and do what you are doing. I have lost trust in reports on TRNC controls on Covid.

They should all be damned quarantined for a good fortnight in these same establishments who flouted the rules, and said establishments closed to everyone else. I feel sorry for the staff that have to work in these places. It really is shameful that this has been allowed to happen.
Agree Forestpixie, all the smaller establishments have had to lose a lot of business over NYE. It really is so unfair.

alphamike, of course its unfair, sadly the TRNC is becoming grossly unfair and getting worse. The richer are getting richer off the backs of the poor locals who in turn are becoming poorer as a result. My criticism is based far more on those that attended these function. I wonder just how many of them will come onto the forum and defend themselves. Not a whole lot I suspect!!

Agree wholeheartedly Sophie. I haven't yet seen anyone defending being at such an affair, and pretty unlikely too, as there really is no defence. Who in their right minds would want to go to an over-crowded affair anyway just now? Beyond my understanding.

It won't let me click on it. The page is dead with messages about cookies.
But I can see a group of people indoors.
I wonder if authorities will investigate

Should be a question asked in Parliament, who gave permission, or why didn’t the police close it down. Those people who normally use this venue should give it another thought. 2 words spring to mind. Greedy "ooops".

Well there are many videos with a midnight countdown. I also read elsewhere hotels were offering rooms from 10pm until 10am so those in attendance didn't have to drive home.

If you get a message about cookies, just accept them if you need to do so in order to make the page work - you can always clear all cookies after you've had a look! (Ctrl + h, > clear browsing history, and click through the options...)

A certain minister with the initials AP was apparently shown on the video of Les Ambassadeurs during the midnight celebrations. Will he be asked to resign I wonder......
